The gloves protect enough for accidental touches of heat styling tools, but I wouldn't go around touching these heated tools on purpose or for extended periods of time, you will definitely get burned. I tested them out on the highest heat setting of 425°F on my straightener, and I could still feel heat through the gloves, so I excerised caution.
