Compact, Convenient, and Great for Tripods
This is a great little V-mount battery plate — solid build and works exactly as expected. It connects really well to tripod legs or smaller support poles, which is perfect for my setup. Just a heads-up: it doesn’t grip as securely on thicker poles, but for standard tripod legs, it holds perfectly. Super convenient and a nice addition to my rig.

A perfect solution
I recently purchased a video light that could run off of a D-Tap to USB C cable connected to a V-Mount style battery for field use. The trouble was that I didn't have a V-Mount battery or the right cable. The battery and cable were easy enough to find on Amazon, but how was I going to mount it all? Enter another great SmallRig product! This V-Lock Mount Battery Plate with Crab-Shaped Clamp fit my needs perfectly. It mounts to any of my tripod legs or light stand poles, and allows for the V-Mount battery to securely lock into the mount. I tried this on thinner light stands as well as some thicker tripod legs and the clamp section fit them all with ease. The cable I purchased allows for various distances from the mount to the light, so that was a win also. I now have quite a few accessories from SmallRig and each one fills a particular niche for me and each is a quality product at a reasonable price. I'm super impressed with SmallRig products!

Becomes loose at every filmshoot
The v mount plate is hanging on by one screw. Every time I attach a big v mount battery, it starts to come loose at the end of the day. I always have to take it apart just to screw the mount tighter. If I forget to tighten it before a shoot, then it becomes a problem! I won't have time to find the correct Allen wrench to take it apart and use a ANOTHER sized Allen wrench to tighten the screw. Then put it back together. I would have to pray that the mount never falls off with all the cables attached, and it sounds like it has happened to some people in the reviews! And no, adding a second screw to the clamp won't fix the issue. The clamp will no longer be able to extend wide enough since it is obstructed by the v mount plate.

As usual, SmallRig provided a quality product. I am happy with SmallRig mini V mount Battery plate. It's from metal, looks durable and it's very easy to use on almost every tripod and other type of equipment. Perfect for new models of V-mount batteries. Its compact size and works amazing with my SmallRig VB99 but also with the SWIT V-mount battery which is bigger.
