Either: NOT CLEAN <or> PACKAGED IMPROPERLY ??? UNUSEABLE!
I bought these a couple of years ago and put them on the shelf and forgot about them. Yesterday I went to use them and found they were ALL dirty/cloudy and many were stuck together. I tried cleaning them with soapy water with a little ammonia but that didn't work. I also tried cleaning with acetone but that didn't work either.I was curious what their thickness was so I pulled out 20 to caliper them. Of this 20, there were 3 pair and one group of 4 that were stuck together by whatever this white, milky substance is. I got one pair to separate but the others were very bonded. FWIW the caliper measurement of 20 was 21.85mm which came to 1.0925mm/slide.The slides are labeled Karter Scientific. Is this an inferior substitution or a subsidiary of the advertised/promised brand, AmScope? If I have to guess, these slides are very poorly packaged and the tissue paper was acidic and leeched an acidic substance that was dissipated across the slides via 'capillary effect.' My theory is just a shot in the dark.BOTTOM LINE: GIVEN THAT SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT DIRTY SLIDES AND COVERSLIPS, SPEND A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS AND GET SOME SLIDES WITH BETTER RATINGS. They're either packaged wrong or contaminated with a destructive agent - take your pick, they're still UNUSEABLE! My more experienced microscopist friends say these coverslips are thicker than desired for optimal optics.

Great Product Great Price
These slides were perfect for my microbiology lab class. They arrived bubbled wrapped and taped inside of the another box. Each slide is separated by a thin lens paper. Cover slips are in a separate box that is wrapped but I will not be using those so I will not unwrap it from its plastic. I believe there are 100 of the cover slips, just incase. The quality of the slides are great. They aren't the really thin ones that I have had to work with before. I have actually dropped the slide (accidently) and it didn't even break. You will not go wrong buying these slides. They also come in a very sturdy box. I went to check the price of microscope slides in my community college's bookstore and was so glad I ordered them from Amazon. They were an extra 4 dollars at the bookstore and it was only for a pack of 12!! So thank you Amazon!!! Hope this helps!!!

Try taking photos with your cell phone through the microscope.
Great slides. We have used them to look at all kinds of things. Our kids like to collect things from the yard and the pond then look at them under the microscope. We usually just rinse them and reuse but sometimes the sample is just gross so we toss them. For the price they are a great value and we don't mind throwing some out. One fun thing you can do is to take a photo through the microscope with your cell phone. Line up your cell camera and tilt it just right until you see though the lens, then hold your hand around it to darken out everything else. If you line it up just right you will be able to take a photo of your sample. Kind of fun, especially for the kids.

random quality on two orders
I ordered this same 'sku' twice. In jan 27 and sept 17 (both 2013). My first order the microscope slides were from the 'premiere' brand and were nearly perfect (used about 50%) while the cover slides had about 20 broken ones, and the plastic case holding them was also broken. The second order had everything wrapped in one package and nothing broken. This time the microscope slides are from "Karter Scientific", but these so far have been horrible. Under a microscope there are bubbles everywhere (about 10 microns diameter, but probably much more than 1000 in 40x zoom), while other slides (from other end of the box) have damage and smudges on them.Massive different in quality in my two orders.

Great value
This is an incredibly great value for the price. The 72 glass slides come in a cardboard box each slide sandwiched with small pieces of paper to reduce scratching. The 100 cover glasses come in a small plastic box and are warped as a stack in a small piece of paper. The only issue I had was with the small plastic box with the cover glass, it was wrapped in tape that left sticky adhesive on the box which was rather annoying with everything trying to stick to the outside of the box. Overall I am extremely pleased and look forward to figuring out what to do with 72 slides.
