The handle on my reclining coach broke, we had extended warranty so we filed a Claim. The company came out and assured me it was the pull cord and that it had to be ordered from the manufacturer. 2 weeks into the whole ordeal? They tell me it could take up to 6 weeks to get the part. So I decided to take it on myself. I pulled the handle out and low and behold the cable was fine, it was the flipper leaver that was broken. I went on Amazon and found this unit. It had the handle and the cable for sale. I ordered it on Saturday and Sunday afternoon it was here. It took me approximately 10 minutes to install it. Works like a champ! Oh, the factory flipper handle was made of plastic, this one is made of metal! So much better quality. Don't be afraid to try this easy repair. It is well worth it.

Replaced original broken plastic handle with this. Fit perfectly and very easy to install. Just two screws and a retaining clip. My love seat reclines again. Nice to have YouTube and Amazon. I bought the two pack for when the other side breaks.

Quick fix, works great, metal handle, solved the issue

I had watched a video that made it seem like this was a doable fix for me. I was able to remove the old handle and cable using pliers to get the black plastic bit out of its slot underneath the couch. Getting the new one installed was a bit of a problem as it came with no instructions. I was relying on the YouTube videos. I had trouble seeing and finding the hole to put the end hook into. So, I decided to put the black plastic piece into its slot first. That was a bad idea, as there was no longer enough slack in the cable to get the end into the hole. I then could not get the black plastic piece back out as easily as I did the old one. After a long time and many attempts, I finally was successful. However, I had the cable on the wrong side of the lever, so the couch wouldn't recline. Luckily, I had a bit of an easier time getting the black plastic piece out of its slot this time. After that, I got everything into place, though I was a little uncertain if I was getting the screws in the handle into the right spot on the couch. Once installed, the mechanism seemed a bit stiff at first, but after a few uses it seems to be working just fine. So, if you do things in the proper order and can see what you are doing, it's a fairly easy fix. So far it seems to be working fine a week later.
