Will the image still last without using the SolarFast detergent wash after the dye?

It should! I used this product about a year ago without the detergent and I haven't had any issues with the images fading.

Can you use xray film?

Yes you can, but it will give you dark bones and light negative space. So consider an Xray is a positive and not a negative

Probably not. Exposing it to the sun without the wash will continue to expose the image, and all parts that have unexposed dye will become dark, unless you leave dye off of some parts. This would be hard for photo exposure, but may be possible with tie-dye. Not sure if the dye itself comes out with regular clothing detergent prior to "fixing" it with the solarfast detergent. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know how long to make a print with the blue on fabric?

It varies depending on the strength of the sun and how clear the sky is (it takes longer if there are clouds), but I've found you can get a good print in about 10 minutes on a sunny day. I don't remember what it is off the top of my head, but the package also has the recommended exposure time on it.

Either I don't know how to use it, or it's the same as cyanotype and the black comes out blue! I tried it on paper and on textiles, the result is the same... I still liked this product that I will continue to use!
