Works for GE Opal ice maker
EDIT: One year later now when the ice melts it backflows into the device and out of the overflow. I gave up and purchased a side tank. For this to work you would need to take the float out and put it in a bigger container where it doesn't overflow if the level rises a few inches when the ice melts.-------First off this is not a plug and play part, you need to not be afraid of pluming and some DIY.I mounted it with his glue and magnets, some magnets glued to the little tank and magnets glued to the ice maker for extra strength. You need to mount it so it just fills the ice maker above the minimum line. Tipping the tank over will allow water to freely flow out of the overflow so you want it secure. The outlet of the valve wasn’t threaded, maybe you can just jamb the fill hose in there, I don’t know, I actually had a 1/4 tap and I carefully tapped the plastic and screwed in a 1/4 tubing 90. It is is super low pressure maybe an OZ of pressure gravity feed into the ice maker reservoir. Finally yes it was dumb trying to take the cover off to get some parts out that shipped with it, the trick is that only half of the top cover slides to the side.

Leaky Valve - Flooded Home - AVOID!
I only write reviews for great or poor experiences. The quality appears good and it installed well, however, the primary function failed. I hooked this to my ice maker and the valve does not work properly. As another reviewer stated, the valve does not fully shut off. It leaked, the reservoir overflowed and flooded my kitchen.

Works great once you understand the overfill problem!
I purchased this to feed my opal ice machine, but was leery when seeing reviews about overfilling.1. Make sure your Vertical Tank is level. Tilting too far to the overflow will result in water spilling out of the overflow. Tilting too far to the valve will result in water spilling out the top of the tank. I started with magnets as many suggested, but eventually just 3D printed a holder for it (it's on Thingiverse if you want to print it out)2. Install a one way, 1/4" check valve going from this Vertical Tank into the ice machine. This will prevent any melting ice from filling up the Vertical Tank and overflowing it.3. Drop the valve using 2, 1/2" rubber washers under the plastic part of the tank. This will drop the fill level on the tank and prevent it from filling up as much as it is designed to. The tank comes apart on the top - one piece slides off and the part holding the valve uses tab grips - just gently pry it off.4. This was the trickiest issue to find. Make sure the float bulb is not touching the side of the tank! I suspect this is why so many other's are having issues with overfilling. I noticed that my 1/4 connector to provide water to the tank was pulling the float bulb to one side of the tank. This was creating enough friction to overflow the tank even though it would eventually shut off. Not the best design, but there aren't many other options out there.Hope this helps some folks!

Worked great on older commercial ice maker.
Replaced exact same thing on ice maker except the inlet was on the side of my old one. Foot of plastic 1/4 inch hose to adapt it

It worked perfectly.
I was surprised it actually worked. It was fairly easy to get set at the correct height. Now I never have to refill my Opal ice maker.

He's right. Not for Opal Ice Maker
Very disappointed. This thing fills my counter up with water every time. So sad.
