Does exactly what it promises.
The “Road Top Wireless Carplay Wireless Android Auto” successfully integrates CarPlay with the dated MMI interface of my 2014 Q7. The instructions were very clear and concise, but I had to turn to YouTube and some forums to figure out how to remove my AC control panel and the media console unit. I’ve rated the product five stars as it does exactly what it promised, but be aware that this product only adds CarPlay as a togglable interface and all of your Bluetooth integration with the vehicle will still be done through the original system. Maps, music display, and the CarPlay UI itself work flawlessly even without being touch-screen and have helped give my car a much more up to date feel. Only complaint is that the cables are a little short which makes the physical portion of the installation a bit tedious (trying to find a spot for the unit and plug in the already short OEM cables.)

Great Unit with Minor Issues
I bought this for a 2011 Q7, and overall I have loved having such a modern and easy to use navigation & music box in my older car. The installation process was kind of a pain -- the instructions and installation video are very bad. The official road top video is super low resolution and doesn't show the hardest part of installation, which is removing the vents and the climate control panel. I had to watch many other videos to figure out how to do it. For installation, you will need a set of study hooks to remove the vents -- I used these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08W54HPVS. The thin mercedes instrument pullers will not work, I tried those in vain for hours. After removing the vent, take care not to turn the ignition on with the wires to the vent disconnected-- one of them is the passenger airbag warning light. Switching the ignition with this disconnected will trigger an airbag fault and cannot be cleared except with a VAG-COM cable or by the dealer. This is something that none of the instructions or informational videos cover, which was pretty frustrating. Then, you will need these keys to remove the MMI: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018GKO6OQ. Finally, you will need a flathead screwdriver to remove the front of the climate control panel. It's pretty easy to hook up all of the connections once you have everything dismantled, and my model Q7 had an opening under the dash where I could run the cable out. Once connected, it was pretty quick to get the phone connected to the device, and most of the functions work very smoothly. The ability to switch between the standard MMI and the roadtop unit is great-- I even took this to the dealer with it installed and they didn't notice or say anything about it. I did experience some issues with the connectivity and ended up turning off wireless android auto which made it way better. It wasn't super useful anyway because, depending on your phone, wireless AA can drain 10% battery per hour. I find it's much easier just to plug in. The box works nicely with the MMI and steering wheel controls, and the call quality and voice recognition work great. Every once in a while everything just stops working and I have to restart the car to get it back in working order, but that's not too often. Overall, once you get it installed and configured this will make your car feel brand new! Roadtop should bundle the installation tools (Radio Keys and Vent Pullers) and create a better installation video and that would make this a much better product. Despite the installation issues, I would recommend buying this if you have a Q7 that you want to upgrade!

You get what you pay for...
Chinese garbage. Not incredibly difficult to install, but glitchy and the bluetooth is unreliable. Mine would connect, then immediately disconnect. No matter what I tried, I never got it to work.

Bad instructions
Probably the worst instructions I’ve ever seen in my life. Trying to figure it out now but the book is in half English and it’s not clear at all.

Quick & easy install on 2014 Audi Q7 Prestige
After hoping that a similar, lower priced unit that was designed for the same navigation unit (MMI 3G+) but a different chassis (A4/A5/etc.) I purchased this unit for $299. It came well packaged with much better instructions than the attempted Carlinkit unit. Installation was smooth, it included the necessary MMI Aux-in jack for proper function which appears as an option for other products. Ensure you have a set of Audi radio keys for head unit removal, a #2 flat head screwdriver to depress the two HVAC faceplate tabs, and a towel to protect your shifter/console. All in all - the hardest part was just arranging the unit and additional cables in a manner to fit inside the dash; the instructions even offered suggestions on a few different orientations. I didn't end up disassembling the glove box and found ways to route the USB-in and a spare HDMI cable to the passenger-side elastic net pocket in the footwell. The Wifi antenna was routed in the same manner, then slid aft behind the passenger side of the center console. Function appears to be good up front, I need to commute with it for a few weeks before I'll up my 4-star rating to 5-stars. One other thing to note is this unit is only powered with the vehicle on (might work in ACC, still need to confirm,) but the MMI will normally stay on if you have turned off the car but not exited the vehicle. This unit powers off in this scenario, not much of a nuisance for how well the unit integrates with plug-in-play wiring and an easily navigable menu using the MMI knob.

Awesome seamless upgrade to CarPlay or Android Auto
Fairly easy installation. Watched the video for removing the vents, disc player, etc. and followed the printed instructions. Took about 45 mins. All of the original buttons, screen, functions work as designed but now have the added functionality of CarPlay
