The inspector didn't say anything about the radon fan. I knew it was there and I've seen it for the past year. But the other day I decided to take a closer look. It was off! The on / off switch was off. And I had no idea. I'm new to radon so the first thing I did was buy a meter. The picture with the number 4 is before I installed the fan. Removing the old fan and putting in the new one didn't take much longer than 15 minutes. It was just a matter of removing the clamps from the pipe connectors, pulling off the old one, removing the white and black wires from the power, and hooking up the new ones with wire nuts. I did use a power meter to make sure there was no power after turning off the breaker from the electrical box. Safety first! After hooking everything up and turning the power back on, the fan turned right on. The other picture that says 1.89 is after 24 hours of running the fan. I feel so much better knowing that I won't get lung cancer from radon now! If only the home inspector had said something I would've made sure to install a new fan. I'm kind of upset about that. Either way this fan is very quiet, I'm glad that I got it! So after adding pipe and unknown resistance from below the floor the CFM will be some what less than 90. **Q: our levels were 4-8 and just installed the GP501. How long would you think it normally takes the levels to go down - 1 day - 1 week? thanks.** A: I installed the GP501. It was easy. After 24 hours my radon levels dropped from 2.45 to .43. It could have just been an unusual day as my radon levels fluctuate. The true test is when the 7 day, and long term averages drop which I expect they will. **Q: is this product listed by UL ?** A: Yes, the GP501 conforms to UL Standard 507 as tested by Intertek “ETL” testing laboratories. **Q: Is this a complete package? do i need to buy any other parts to install? it's a new home and the builder i have a 3" venting pipe and an outlet.** A: You will only need a few parts. After you cut the 3" radon pipe in your attic, you will need two 3" Fernco rubber couplings or "girdles" (or at least that what we call them) and 4 appropriately-sized worm clamps to secure the radon fan's housing to both ends of the cut radon pipe. And of course, a flat head screwdriver to tighten the worm clamps. And I seem to remember that you will need a 120 volt pigtail wire/cord with a plug on it, as this was not included with the fan.
