A: Based on the way the XL fir me at 225 and 6'1" I would say XL might be a good fit for you

**Q: is the leather soft or stiff like most motorcycle jackets and how heavy is it ?**
A: It is a soft leather substitute, when I tried it on it didn't seem to heavy. However I do not think it would provide much protection on a motorcycle.

A: In my opinion based off of your specs and my specs of 197 lbs., 5'10.5 and a 32 inch waist, I think as small should be fine.  I assuming your belly is not a beer belly, having a flat stomach does help at least for me.  With my waist size (as noted above)  I've had no problems.  And to put your mind at ease, if you order the wrong size, returns are free.  Hope this helped.
