**Q: Is the size based on the nut or the stud?**
A: It is the size of the head on the wheel stud or nut that the loose nut indicators would attach to. Find a metric socket that fits and you found the size you need. Most semi trucks are 21m I believe. I have 7 in my fleet from 3 different manufactures and these worked for all 7 trucks.
