How do I pull off the cover of the battery compartment?

Hi, please simply turn the cover counterclockwise and then you take out the battery compartment and replace the dead batteries with no difficulty.

Is the magnet strong enough?

In my opinion, yes it is strong enough. I put it on my car in a few different places, even on the side of the car and it stayed in position with no problem. This is a great life saving tool. Everyone should have this in their car.

I gave these out as stocking stuffers a few years ago and everyone has actually used them. With the recent storms in Texas, I took an extra to my dad and to my ex father-in-law because they can sit and work like a lamp and safer than a candle. The batteries last a long time too. Cannot recommend these enough for the car, kitchen, “just because” gifts, etc. WELL DONE TO WHOMEVER INVENTED THEM 👏👏👏👏
