Open heart surgery, stents, stopped and restarted my heart and more ablations than I can remember. I have a red, ugly scar on my chest after the open heart surgery that is still painful after 12 years. I look like a car with front end body damage. The seatbelt rubbed on the scar so I would use a folded towel for a cushion. It helped but did not want to stay in place. On this past Aug. 26 and Sept 11, I had a severe, sustained ventricular tachycardia event on each day. The ER cardiologist and my own cardiologist do not know why I am still alive. Anyway, this resulted in an ICD (defibrillator) being implanted in my upper left chest. The ICD is directly under the seatbelt and I don't want the seatbelt rubbing on it as it is most painful. I watched YouTube videos about the dangers of the seatbelt damaging the ICD, or me, in case of a hard stop or front end collision. Actually, I could sustain more damage from the titanium device hard pressing into me. One of the videos showed seatbelt cushions so I researched them and settled on 2 of these. I had never heard of them before. This cushion is thick, held on with 2 Velcro areas and a clip to keep the cushion from sliding down. I put one in my convertible and the other in my F-150. One is not needed on the passenger seat in my wife's SUV as the seatbelt does not bother me.
