My two year old American Bully rescue was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Even After following the vets orders and taking three prescriptions a day my sweet dogs health was deteriorating quicky. I did some research of my own and discoverd what a big role diet and vitamins/minerals could play in her overall well being. I immediately changed her diet- all home cooked, and added both the cardiac and renal health supplements. It's nothing short of a miracle how much better my pup is doing! She has energy, her eyes are bright and she's happy. The renal one does smell terrible but I wrap it in some turkey and my dog doesn't notice. Also compared to all the other medicines and vet recommend supplements these are affordable, which is huge!! These supplements are a permanent addition to her regiment.

The pills in this bottle are ridiculously, absurdly huge. They are called "chewable," but don't believe it. I have occasionally bought various companies' "chewable" pills for the dogs I've had over many years, and I have never yet had any dog ever actually chew or eat a so-called "chewable" pill. These pills in particular are the absolutely largest "chewable" pills I have ever seen. They are gigantic. Even if broken up into quarters, the quarters are still too large to give to a dog like a normal pill. The ONLY way I can give my dog the 1-1/2 Vetriscience Renal Essentials pills she is supposed to take is to use a pill splitter and divide 1 pill into 8 pieces. So for her to take 1-1/2 pills, I have to give her 12 SEPARATE pills (each of them being 1/8 of a tablet). It is ridiculous! It's stressful for her and a pain for both of us. So I then tried griding up these enormous pills in a mortar and pestle. They grind easily into a fine powder, but the powder stinks and when I mix it with my dog's favorite treats (like beef or chicken baby food puree), my dog absolutely refuses to touch it. I don't blame her, as it smells terrible. Here's a note to this company: Please put your products into a manageable size of CAPSULE or PILL (that is NON CHEWABLE) so that dog owners can simply administer a normal pill to their dogs. I've never had a dog I couldn't give a pill to. Dogs are good pill takers! But when it comes to "chewable" pills, they are a hoax -- they just do not work. And these pills in particular are absurdly large and smell so bad. It's no wonder my dog refuses to have anything to do with them.

Last time I brought my pup to the doctor, they noticed his blood work was abnormal. MD told us our dog has early signs of kidney disease. He's 14 but still has the energy of a 6yr old dog. We changed his diet to less protein and started him on the renal essential pills. Its been about 2 weeks. He's been good. There is no cure but I hope these pills are helping him anyway possible. They are very hard pills, takes a bit of effort to break in half. My dog weighs 8lbs so he only takes a half. I get a little nervous he might choke on it bc they are hard. It has never happened so far so good. The pill smells very strong of medicine too. But he eats these up like treats.

I can’t say enough good things about this product. My senior lab was having high kidney levels in his yearly bloodwork. I tried this product for a few months along with changing his kibble to something with less protein. We had bloodwork redone a few months later and his kidney levels are normal! They are a big tablet but my lab had no issues taking it with his food.

My dog loves it! I don’t even have to hide it in cheese or peanut butter. After being diagnosed with the beginning stages of kidney disease in 2025, we just got her lab work which shows normal levels. With this supplement, a change in her food, and naraquin she will live a bit longer!

I would not recommend this product. Their chewable version is a significant improvement, but I wanted to try something more cost efficient and figured my dog basically eats anything anyway. Listen to the reviews all saying how large, smelly, and crumbly they are because it is just that and if you have a large dog like me, be prepared to give 2-3 tabs. Not worth the hassle IMO.

The first bottle I bought was O.K. The second bottle was a DISASTER.. The pills were mostly decomposed with more powder than pills. Rather than go through the bother of sending them back I just gave them to my dog as is. Big mistake. My dog, who had a wonderful appetite, started losing interest in food. The problem got progressively worse until he stopped eating altogether. He lost a tremendous amount of weight. Neither the vet nor I could figure out what the problem was. He even said I should think about possible euthanasia in the future because the dog was losing so much weight & would absolutely not eat anything. I then read on Amazon that some other dog owners were complaining their dogs stopped eating after taking this product. It didn't dawn on me at first that taking a half vitamin pill once a day could cause such terrible problems. I then immediately stopped using this product & a day later my dog started eating again! And he's been eating a lot since, rapidly gaining weight back. Using this product has been a nightmare for me. But getting rid of this product has resulted in a happy ending.

The pills are large but my dog likes the taste (and if your dog us picky put peanut butter on them they should take it fine) They work really well, My vet says my dogs kidneys and blood levels are so good now that we can change getting blood work done every 6 months to once a year now I’ll definitely buy them again

Holy crap these pills are huge. How am I supposed to get my dog to eat this? It's too big to disguise within anything. What an absolute ripoff. These are useless to me. And they aren't chewable, there is nothing about their flavor, or smell that would make your dog want to eat these. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!! There has to be a better made brand, that are smaller and easier to give to your dog.

My 12-year-old terrier was diagnosed with kidney failure in July 2020. The diagnosis was based on two urine tests, and he was showing symptoms. He had a blood test in Feb 2021 to stage the disease...and his blood test was normal. He still has the symptoms, so the disease is still there. I changed his diet, and he lost 15% of his weight so he's not overweight now. I read up on kidney failure in humans as well as dogs, and started to cook cruciferous veggies to add to the raw meat I still feed him. He drinks the vegetable broth as well as eating the veggies. He loves his new diet and supplements. Thanks for helping me to save my dog!

This product was powder and cloth in the container.

This may work for dogs that are more food motivated but my dog hated this. And because the pills are so large I didn't dare do the "pop it in her mouth until she swallows it" trick.
