How do I return the drain that I purchased

Contact Amazon as long as its not been ove 30 days you should be okay

does it require plumbers putty?

As far as I know they all require some type of sealant. Plumbers putty is easy, but I think some people use silicone in its place.

what is the diff between standard drain assembly and drain assembly

The drain assembly is a bit more Heavy duty

Use plumbers putty with the provided gasket? instead of the gasket? Or use just the gasket???

Use putty along with the gasket.
