The usb-c cable that came with this drive never worked. After several attempts to contact Lacie's customer service for a working cable I got no response. This was the second USB-C cable that failed on a Lacie drive in the last 6 months. Neither one was replaced by the company even though the products was under warranty. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Drive, Rubbish USB-C cable *by C***H on Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2016* Solid drive and great backup speeds to my MacBook Pro with Touchbar, however, my computer would sometimes freeze while transferring and get an error code -36 (I/O error). In addition, the charging may be intermittent (if you choose to draw power to the computer directly from the hard drive which itself is plugged into power). These issues disappeared by simply switching to Apple's own USB-C cable when transferring data. After investing in developing a monster hard drive, one would think LaCie/Seagate would at least supply decent cables with their product! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Don't count on the through-charge feature *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2017* The drive itself is fine, and I took the advice of previous reviewers and went ahead and replaced its USB-C cable with an Apple one. What I don't like about this drive is that I can't depend on it charging my Macbook Pro (late-2016), which, unfortunately, is why I chose this drive over others. I was hoping this could serve as both my backup drive (always connected to my laptop) and power source to reduce the amount of cables I would need to plug in to my computer. However, when my computer goes to sleep, sometimes the battery gets drained entirely by this drive. Initially the through-charge works great. Problems arise when I leave it plugged in overnight and the laptop is going in/out of sleep. Sometimes it will be fine for a few days, but I usually have this problem daily. It's not the cable as I've already replaced it with another one from Apple. I haven't been able to get consistent charge behavior from this drive, so I've resorted to always plugging in my laptop charger as well.
