Can the sawyer mini filter screw onto this?

YES!! The solution is easier than you think! Replace the white sealing washer with a thinner one. Ideally about 1mm thick, or between 1/16" and 3/64". May be hard to find, but a few minutes with an Exacto knife and some faucet packing material from the local orange hardware store will have you in business. Just trace the original gasket onto the rubber sheet, cut, and no more leaks! (Warning: the washers used for your garden hose are still too thick......yes, I tried). I can verify no leaks even with the Sawyer flip-cap closed (it wasn't intentional). Cost me nothing (I had the material already), and took me about five minutes of perfectionist cutting.

Where is this made? China? U.S.

It says on the package that it's made in the USA. It also has Seattle stamped on the container itself but I don't know if it's made there.

How wide is the cap? I want to use a Lifestraw through it.

The opening is only about 3/4", a lifestraw will not fit into the opening. You can look into getting a Sawyer mini filter (about $20 at Walmart). The Sawyer has the same thread size as the Platypus bag. Just screw the filter directly to the bag. You can modify the Platypus drink tube to fit onto the clean water side of the Sawyer filter. It weighs 2 oz and can filter up to 100,000 gallons. The flow rate is good as well. Hope this helps.

is there a way to get replacement cap? I bought 2 of these and my Boy Scout lost the cap to one during a flash flood! on his hike?

You can pay between $3 -$6 for a replacement cap. If I were you I would just buy a Smart Water (bottled water) bottle and use the cap off of it. I think there are 2 different types, plain cap and sports top.

This is an awesome product. When packing away it's advisable to roll it up or lay it flat rather than fold it. The piece delivered to me was brand new and came in its original 'Made in USA' packaging. It's made up of extremely good material and has no odor to it at all.
