But, then I just read the instructions printed on the side of the plug. It stated to use a screwdriver and spread the plug apart. Once I did that, I had the plug apart in 6 seconds. Sometimes, it pays to read the instructions! Once apart, I loosened the two screws and wired it up. It was very easy and only took a few minutes. This is my favorite replacement plug. I've used it many times. **Q: Specs mention it has an led, but pictures don't show it. is it lit when powered?** A: I don't see an LED unless it is in the dark horizontal slot shown in the picture of the Electrical Plug. Mine has that dark horizontal slot as shown, on two sides, but mine doesn't light when plugged into an electrified receptacle (powered), and doesn't light when the lamp itself is turned on. I'm not sure what the point of having an LED would be in this case, or if in fact it even has an LED. This makes me doubt the dark horizontal slot I see really is an LED (light emitting diode). Will this work?** A: Ceiling fans typically use a 3 wire connection. **Q: Has anyone used this plug on 16/2 hpn wire for a space heater and did it hold up?** A: I used this product on a table lamp using a 100W incandescent light bulb, and plugged into a standard household 110V, 15 Amp circuit. Later I changed to an LED bulb that draws significantly less current. My answer is "No", I have not used it in the circuit you describe to run a space heater that I would think would draw significantly more current. No, I have not used the plug in the application you describe. Removing the inner part took a bit of effort. I found it easiest to use a small flathead screwdriver to lift the brown outer case over the wing while using another flathead to push the wing outwards (see photo).
