However that’s filled to the top of you fill it to right under the handle like the instructions say, which it never reaches so right under 100. So not a gallon. Around 3/4 of a gallon **Q: Is there a dispensing stand for the back up tank- for a countertop?** A: No stand comes with this. I bought extra tank because original one started to leak. (Had it for a year so I’m sure it’s something I one of our family of 5 did) not aware of a stand that could be available. I just leave mine in the fixture that filters the water on the edge of the counter. **Q: Where does it open up for cleaning regularly?** A: It opens on the top. If for some reason it's not cleaned right it could develop mold and then you have to buy a new pitcher. **Q: how does it attach?** A: No attachment to a faucet or installation to plumbing is required. AquaTru is a countertop filter.
