curious why this is not recommended for sun umbrellas?

I don' t know why it's not recommended for sun umbrellas, but it is doing a good job on mine. I can see my umbrella from where I sit, and it looks great.

Will the color run if the cushion gets wet in the rain? Product info says repels water... true? Seeing comment red color bleeds.

Mine is under a roof so I don’t know but it does not color well. Took a whole can to cover 1 side of a cushion. I hate the texture it made the cushion and I hate sitting on it. I did not paint any more cushions. Would not buy again.

Can this be used on any type of fabric besides cotton?

I used it on polyester successfully.
