I found it easy to use out of the box, with a minute or two with the short instructions. It's accurate for objects whose distances I already know. The scope is surprisingly powerful, and it seems to home in on the flag, and not get confused with more distant objects. I bought this as a Christmas gift for a friend, and liked it so much I got one for myself!
