The knob on it recently broke off and I was sure we were going to have all sorts of problems finding something to fit without having to hire someone to refit the entire switch. After my husband easily replaced it (and he is not any sort of handyman), we discovered after all these years that it actually clicks to an off position, all these years we never had a click at the bottom when we lowered it. I had previously owned the product and needed a replacement. I find this type of dimmer better because you have more control of the dimming feature. I use it to control track lighting in my living room ceiling. It looks nice and more modern than the circular dimmer switches that are much more bulky and less to touch. The only downside is that the gliding mechanism is now made of cheaper material (plastic material rather than metal) which will mostly likely not last as long as my prior model which lasted about 20 years. The vendor delivered the product within the required time frame. I noticed some flickering at the lowest light settings at first, now they operate smoothly. I installed three of these switches in our new kitchen.
