Good Rough cut file
I like this file , no problems with it. Cuts well , use it for sharpening my blades, nice job.

Quality File For Gift
Having already owned one, I purchased this one as a gift for son-in-law to sharpen his lawn mower blade and anything else he comes across. For that task, I like this long 12 inch with over 1 inch width. For the mower blade, you grab the file's ends with two hands and go 'sideways' across the surfaces of the blade in more of a scrubbing motion. Nicely maintains the original bevel. Nicholson is a long-time maker of quality files. I still remember all the different cuts (surface styles) of files 50 years later after learning the differences and applications in Junior High Metal Shop Class.

Excellent bastard file!!!
Hard steel and not a chip or dull edge in sight after heavy use. Pay attention because it cuts/shaves metal fast! ...especially if your contouring or shaping a metal project. Enjoy!

So far so good
I am a bit biased re files and being made in America. I prefer nicholson black diamond made in USA, but of course these are harder and harder to obtain. This unit is from Brazil and I must say it cuts very well. Single cut bastard 12" and it does remove the metal. I use it principally as intermediate "grit" in mower blade sharpening ... and I sharpen a lot of blades ... and so far I am impressed. Time will tell if the file holds up but at this time quite a pleasant value and performance.

Having trouble sharpening your lawn mower blade?
I was using files handed down to me from my dead relatives! The problem was, they just didn't work anymore. (I didn't realize it) I Ordered this file, and OMG! What a difference! In just one minute, my lawn mower blade was sharp! I highly recommend it.

Every Outdoorsman knows you need a decent small reliable file and Nicholson is the best! Don't waste your time with other Bargain Basement garbage you'll be crying the Blues in no time at all. I use this and a puck Stone to keep all of my axes tomahawks and bushcrafting tools sharp and ready for use and it weighs next to nothing I keep several of them stashed all over the place.
