I bought the K&N air filter for my 2016 Subaru Outback with 2.5i engine and installed it on 7-21-2016. It fits perfectly- as mentioned by others the only way it fits in this car's air box is to turn the filter 90 degrees so the filter slats are running vertically, not horizontally as it does on the OEM filter. The filter looks square but is not a perfect square. Build quality is much better and more solid than the flimsy OEM or aftermarket paper air filters. The deep side of the filter (air input) faces the front of the car which I installed into the front portion of the air box. I noticed right away that throttle response was better and much more immediate, and the engine sounds and runs more smoothly. After 2 weeks of having it installed acceleration and power have really improved. The lackluster acceleration was a drawback I've had with this car in exchange for good fuel economy, but I love everything else about it. After having had the K&N filter installed for 2 weeks acceleration has really improved to where I am very impressed and am having even more fun driving it. This is my fifth Subaru with the 2.5i engine. I was thinking my next Subaru would be with the 6 cylinder but no longer, thanks to this air filter. Apparently the engine computer system needs time to adjust to the increased air flow. This is not imagined on my part, power and speed have considerably improved, as well as smoother acceleration. Feels like power has increased by several horsepower. The car also idles at a lower RPM. I have not yet determined any increase in fuel economy- I've been having too much fun driving this car faster and harder than before. This filter really does great things for my car's performance! Don't hesitate to try it.

Easy to use. Easy to clean, easy to reuse. In some cases there is a noticeable bit of power difference because of the air to fuel ratio. In some cases you might not notice it. It's not a huge jump in power but it can be noticeable in the right vehicle. I put them in everything. I got one in my outback. I had one in my RX. I had one in my Sequoia had one in my fusion. Every vehicle I've had I've put one in. I have not put one in my lx470 yet because it's going to need much more work than an air filter can do right now. So I haven't put that expense into it. But I will because I know how it performed in the Sequoia with the same engine. It was a noticeable difference and when you're at about 6,000 7,000 lb of weight, a noticeable difference can be significant matter how small of a difference it is that it's noticeable

Perfect, easy replacement for the restrictive stock paper filter on a 2016 Subaru WRX. Start to finish, installation took about two minutes with no tools required -- and this is my first time replacing an engine filter. The filter housing has two clamps that pop right off, and then the housing will open just far enough to replace the filter. After about 13 months / 18k miles, the stock filter was dirty and clogged with leaves, dirt, and bugs. I noticed an instance difference after installing this K&N filter. I can't vouch for a specific improvement in HP or fuel consumption yet, but it definitely feels like the engine has more pep. With the stock filter, switching into second gear at low revs had a sort of hiccup in power delivery, no matter how I engaged the clutch. With the K&N filter installed, that hiccup is gone! The power band feels consistent and slightly more powerful. Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Don't pay a dealer to do replace your engine filter! They will charge anywhere from $70-$100 for a $15 paper filter that will only last a year or two. YouTube has plenty of helpful videos about how to install a filter on your make and model, and you'll be happy to have a higher quality, reusable filter.

It fits well

I've used these filters in both my naturally aspirated Subies and Turbo (WRX and now STI). It's true that a filter is no magic bullet, but I have noticed in all my cars about 1 MPG improvement over a clean factory filter - it does flow more air. Especially in the Turbos, which pull a lot of air, a stronger mid and freer revving high end is noticeable. The car just seems to have a touch more oomph for passing, which is pretty much the only time I use wide open throttle (ie. peddle tot the metal!). Highly recommended. Notes: I do replace my K and N, even though it's washable, every 50K - I live on dirt roads and even with cleaning, there's a point where it seems better to replace. Still, an OEM fliter costs about 1/2 of this filter and needs to be replaced much more often, so this is a good value at $32.. I have tried non-oiled aftermarket performance filters and they're very good, but this seems to flow a bit more. Finally, be careful not to put too much oil on the filter when you clean it and be sure it's dry before you drive- so that the MAF doesn't get affected. With these steps, I've had no MAF sensor issues.

Cumple lo esperado, encajó muy bien en una Forester 2022, la aceleración del motor se siente con mejor respuesta sobre todo en carretera. El rendimiento de gasolina en ciudad parece mejorar de una media de 9,5 Km/lt a 10 Km/lt, y en carretera de 10 km/lt a 11 Km/lt, aunque para ser realista necesitaría una prueba más controlada para validar si hay una mejora de rendimiento real., Me quedo sobre todo con la respuesta de aceleración del motor, se puede sentir en las respuestas para rebase, y aún en el arranque desde cero, no se vuelve un auto superdeportivo de ninguna manera, pero en definitiva hay una respuesta más viva del motor (algunos videos que encontré en la red medían ganancias en dinámetro de 5 a 7 hp por el uso del filtro k&n , quizás sea correcto) y se siente más suave su funcionamiento. El filtro de aire K&N es un producto recomendable definitivamente.

Habe mir den Filter für meinen WRX STi gekauft im Tausch gegen den originalen Platten Filter von Subaru. Passt einwandfrei, Macht etwas mehr Ansauggeräusche und lässt die Luft mit weniger gegendruck fließen. Mehrleistung hab ich aber nicht wirklich gespürt.

Slotted straight into my 2015 Subaru outback diesel to replace old and very filthy paper one. Had to release and afterwards re clip 2 clips so good job I'm a mechanical genius. Very slightly oblong so had to turn it 90°. Comes with a little sticker to remind you you'll never need a new air filter again.
