Why do some of the reviews say these are lousy d batteries when these appear to be aa batteries? i'm thinking of getting them for aa, not d.

You can select multiple options when you buy them, like the size, but you can't write a review for just one option. If you buy the D battery size, it's really a hollow shell with an AA inside it.

are these batteries good for solar lights ?

The problem with using good quality batteries in solar lights is that solar lights rarely have a decent charger in them (every one I have taken apart did not have a charger circuit, but rather just fed unregulated power direct from the solar cell). The second problem is the solar cells are rarely good quality, so unless they receive 8-12 hours of optimal sunlight, they will under charge the batteries regularly. As a result batteries, both junk and good quality are often not properly charged by the light. Additionally, they are exposed to poor weather conditions (including high temperatures in the summer and low temperatures in the winter). These will lower the battery life. IMO, you are just as well off buying a CHEAP rechargeable and replacing them as needed.

Will these work with a Duracell charger?

Yes, the chargers are universal. I have a duracell charger and have used different rechargeable batteries in them.

Buy these instead of disposable, from now on. These are proven solid!

Awesome! Repeat purchase. I use these with an Opus BT-9100 charger, and these are my go-to batteries for almost everything. They last - both in each use, and over recharge after recharge. Pro tip: charge as slowly as you can for the best overall battery life. I’ll use 200mA/h if I’m not in any hurry, 500mA/h to speed things up, and rarely to never do I need 1,000/2,000mA/h recharging rate. Note that the NI/MH chemistry provides .2-.3V less than standard batteries, which works fine for almost everything I use them in. Yes, flashlights would be slightly dimmer for example, not to the extent I can even tell. To not buy countless disposable batteries I’m totally okay with that! Most devices that have a battery status indicator will show these as not 100% full also due to the lower voltage. These batteries handle high current demands very well (flashlights), and good overall life for slow drain devices (remote controls). I’ve been using some for years, only buying more as my needs increase. Even after years, I’ve not had to retire even one of these batteries!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Love these. Buying more. Save money and recharge. Why buy packs of 20 batteries when you can get 8 rechargeable ones for half the price, with the charger?!?! Math people lol. The cost to recharge is pennies and they last forever. Charging when they go out is fast, and do it while sleeping so it doesn't impact your day!
