Rick Steves Amsterdam & the Netherlands, 2nd Edition

This is am excellent tour guide. We found his booked extremely useful when planning our city break to Amsterdam. I love being organised and did not want to waste money doing things that weren't worth it. This book gave a great description of everything youw ish to see and tell your exactly what to bother and not bother doing. It provides good maps and guided tours with access to an audio guide app if needed. My partner and I followed all the walking tours in thai guide and I carried the book with us reading it out loud along the way, we found the book to be amazing. It also provides good knowledge for budgeting for your trip and tips for local etiquette. We would definitely buy more guide by Rick for future city breaks. Well worth the money and an excellent read before, during and after the trip.

Can't get enough of Rick Steves. Always plenty of little tips and gems in every book that make well worth the price as it saves you big time when you get there. Also Rick emphasizes some more off the beaten path places which I just love.

Awesome book, love the maps and some of the insights into the local area. Don't forget to download Rick Steeves podcast app to go along with this...good and free audio tours of the walks in the book, as well as general info podcasts about the country you're visiting.

I love Rick Steves' books. I also have his books on Germany and France. I like travel books that give you GUIDANCE, and his books do just that. This book and my other Steves books give you an idea of what to visit based on how much time you have, which is great if you don't have time to do a lot of research. They help you prioritize. This book and the others recommend self-guided walking tours and also list popular guided tours. But if you want to do the research, the books get you started on that, giving you the pluses and minuses of each attraction. I don't like books that just describe all the attractions and hotels like some other travel books do -- I want guidance and insights. The Steves books also contain useful tidbits you need to know as a traveler, like if the train stations have lockers. Very practical stuff. The language is casual and personal, as if one helpful person wrote all the books. I confess I haven't gone on the trip yet. Hopefully the books are accurate and not "fake news"!
