Nicholson 8 Piece Machinist File Set

The set contains: -- 10" flat bastard -- 10" mill bastard -- 10" flat smooth -- 10" round bastard -- 10" half round bastard -- 10" square bastard -- 7" slim taper -- Cleaning brush The files are high quality and come with a heavy vinyl pouch. I have used on some metal work projects at home and I am very pleased with the quality and durability of the set.

These are excellent quality, as expected from Nicholson. My only two critiques to make this a better set; I wish the file card had a brush side also, and I wish one of the files would have a safety edge.

I have used Nicholson files for years at work. I am fully aware of the good quality. No complaints here.

I bought these files for there price specifically because they were suppose to be USA MADE. THEY ARE ALL MADE IN EITHER MEXICO OR BRAZIL, SAME GOES FOR THE CASE... *DO NOT GO BY AMAZONS PICTURES THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU ARE GETTING* The quality is usable but sloppy. My round bastard file has a freaking nick at the top end of it which isn't to huge a deal but come freaking on, this isn't the cheapest set of files on the market ya know. The stamp quality looks like something out of harbor freight, at least with the ones from Mexico, the Brazil made ones look a little better but still, what the hell, this should all be USA MADE with the old Nicholson quality I have seen for years, at least at this price it should be.. I have school starting this week and I NEED files for my metal fabrication class. I don't have time to return these and swap out for something I should have just spent 30 bucks on instead. Freaking amazing. If you're looking for a set of files, just go with something in the 30 dollar range since I guess everything is pretty much the same now. -EDIT: CHECK THE DATE TO MY REVIEW VS THE OTHERS, THIS CHANGE IN MANUFACTURING SEEMS TO BE RECENT

I purchased the set from Amazon on Sept 29th. The set I received had a date sticker of 08/30/17 so I think they are quickly moving quite a few of these sets through Amazon. I believe this set is a good value for the money as it has quite a few different files for different filing needs. Through Amazon, the set was $65.35. If purchased elsewhere, the prices were ranging from $65.35 all the way up to $146.99. If you purchased all 8 pieces direct from Nicholson Tools, it would run you about $128.38 without the storage pouch. Things about this set to note: 1) The files DO NOT have an individual part number stamped on them. Just a generic description like "Flat bastard". 2) The set does not have a file small enough to file chainsaw chains as pictured on the Amazon listing. I would recommend a file specifically meant for chainsaw chains. 3) The pictures on Amazon are misleading. The red pouch and files say USA. I received a green pouch and South American made files. All in all, I believe this set is a good value for the money. It arrived undamaged and all the files were in excellent condition. Four stars for the product, would have been five but the Amazon listing is misleading showing USA products and misleading product use (sharpening a chainsaw chain).

This is an excellent set. A treasure to have and use.

Apart from having nicholson files which I have used for 35 years and they are far the best in the industry, they come in a very convenient pouch with a card type file cleaner. Just great.

I just received the files today. Already, I'm disappointed with them. The description on Amazon leads you to believe they are made in the U.S.A but the files are not. I know other reviews have stated this but I needed files, they were on sale and it shows them made in the states so I thought I would see them for myself. For the price, I expect a quality product that is North American made. In Canada, they are selling for $156 regularly on sale for $102. I don't mind paying the premium but the product needs to deliver. I think they have missed the mark. Even on sale, $102 seems more than enough for 7 files. The smooth flat was twisted, the pouch is showing signs of wear right out of the box. Two of the pockets are too tight for the files. It will not be long before the files have gone through them making the pouch useless. At this point, it feels like I've been taken.
