Needs time to burn off excess chineezium after manufacturing. - Great little burner!! Gets super hot and mauntains constant temperature. Only issue, and it was stated in the manual, that it will burn off some oil left over from manufacturing but after 10 uses I can still smell some burnt chineezium coming off it. Hopefully that stops soon. Is this normal?** A: The one I got also got to hot to touch the control knobs if I didn't have something on the burner, and I could smell plastic burning. Also the power cord is to short I had to add a 12 inch extension to it. But in reading the booklet that came with it, its mentioned not to operate without a pan on it, so it is a know problem.
