German Castrol Class IV Synthetic
This is the real deal- Germany produced, Euro blend, Class IV Synthetic. This is the oil that BMW recommends and uses in its new autos (which have an oil change service interval of 15K Km/10K Miles). What does that mean? This is a real, full synthetic, made with PAO/Esters. Most of the oil sold on the shelf and branded as "synthetic" are really just blends of high quality regular oil with a synthetic additive, but are not true synthetic, including those branded as Castrol Syntec. (all considered Class III oils) The only other true, full synthetics that I know of are Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil1, and Redline, which are a bit more expensive. The bobistheoilguy website, which bases its oil reviews on actual research and blind testing have found this to be a pure synthetic through chemical analysis. A lot of good information is on that website if you'd like to look into it further. Some of the benefits of running a true synthetic are extended intervals between oil changes (oil change every 8-12K miles) and much more suitable to harsher driving conditions, such as big temperature changes, cold start, high rpm, stop and go, short trips. There are supposedly slight MPG improvements, but I haven't noticed much because I have been enjoying how smooth my car operates on this, with liberal throttle application. This is a very well respected oil among auto enthusiasts, your car will thank you. I am using this in my 2008 Volvo C30 T5

Good BMW LL01 oil.
Castro Euro formula works great in the BMW. My wifeโs X1 has 170,000 miles and I have used this exclusively. I pulled the valve cover to change the gasket and the engine is clean as new!

European spec oil at an excellent price.
This is the only oil I use in my 2011 BMW 128i. Itโs one of the oils specified for BMWโs. I canโt speak to the specifics of this product only that I buy it here because Amazon has the lowest price. I know itโs high quality oil for high performance European engines.

Castrol is a quality engine oil
Castrol Edge Euro 0W-30 A3/B4 full synthetic engine oil is the recommended oil for my Volkswagen Atlas equipped with the VR6 engine. I've noted initial start-ups are quieter which is greatly appreciated. At just under $9/qt. the price point was attractive.

No More German Castrol from Amazon
A previous reviewer reported the oil she received is from Belgium but not Germany. I placed my order before seeing her review, now my oil is here and unfortunately mine's also Belgian. The oil bottle has a new package design with no more red label; instead of red, the label is now orange. Guess I could use this as a reason to return the oil? But I'm not returning it; I would say this is still a good oil, just not the old GC anymore. Could this new "Belgian Castrol 0W30" better than the old GC? I don't know, but in my opinion it should be at least the same if not better. However, at this point we all know GC is a real synthetic oil, not sure about this new Belgian stuff though - it could still be a true synthetic or, it could be an ultra-refined dino oil like lots of the "synthetic oil" of today. So bottom line, it is safe to say the new stock from Amazon is no longer German Castrol. If you are bothered by that, find another source for the real GC, otherwise this is still a good oil to use. Since German Castrol disappears with the launch of new Belgium made 0W40, my guess is, German Castrol will be eventually replaced by this new Belgium made 0W30, and Castrol no longer supplies GC to Amazon.
