Has anyone used the ovulation strips to avoid pregnancy? I can't be on BC because of what it does to my body.

Accepted Answer

Using ovulation tests to avoid pregnancy isn’t a reliable method. Even if your cycles are normally regular, there’s always a chance you could randomly ovulate earlier in your cycle (for example, during your bleeding) due to stress or some other cause. Be very careful, and discuss this with your Gyno.

I just finished my period, how soon should I start taking the tests?

Starting 12 to 14 days into your cycle is too late. Not all women are on a 28 day cycle.
Some are 27, 26, or possibly less. I’m 26-28 days, somewhat irregular. I’d say start after 7 or 8 days into your cycle. Get an idea of when you have your LH surge. Most women don’t succeed in getting pregnant the first time around. So keep track and keep trying monthly.

Question 3

Has anyone had a lighter test line than control line, but still ovulated? Mine are all like that.

It is actually quite dramatic.  I swore I ovulated at day 15 based on my cm, but the test only showed the faint red line (negative).  On day 17 it was dramatically red (positive).  Day 18 was half of the red that day 17 was.  I still had evidence of LH, but it wasn't surging.  If all is normal, I should ovulate by day 19.  A friend of mine ovulated on day 5 so testing earlier like the other poster said may be a good option!  :)
