Nice Ledger Book
This is old school. Doing the taxes a few years back, I got so frustrated with online records. There's never a foolproof (not this fool, anyway) way to transfer data from one kind of thing (online orders and receipts, e.g.) to another kind of thing (online accounting). And if you get audited, you need to be able to show the paper records, which you also have to scan and upload. And everything has to be added up with a tape-type record. And my husband has two different businesses that he runs as a sole proprietor. Got it so far? Original contemporaneous paper record. Running account. Categorized. Dated. ALONG WITH your accounting program reports. For me, the easiest thing is to keep a running ledger that I can check my numbers against at the end of the year. I just take everything as he gives it to me, enter it in the ledger by date in ink (because that's a contemporaneous record produced in the ordinary course of business, i.e. evidence), enter the info in the program, and keep the deposit slips and receipts with the ledger in date order. At tax time, I run the reports, check my numbers, and I'm ready to go.

I like it
I bought one to keep rolling totals of specific stock I do a lot with. Just ordered a second book for a similar use. Price isn't terrible, and so far I like it a lot. I'm several pages in and it isn't curling up or getting destroyed with constant movement from house to work. I've been using a pilot precise rolling ball point, which handles it well but will bleed through if I'm pressing too hard. I feel like a regular ball point might not be fine enough to work well. The tape style white out has been working fine for any mistakes. 1 top row for descriptions 30 rows for transactions 1 bottom row for totals My one and only complaint, (which isn't really that bad honestly) is the cover has no spot to put a name/description of which book it is. Won't be an issue unless I start using several of these at once though.
