Not bad, but could use a few improvements
I really like the concept of these lights. We have some outdoor lighting at our home powered by electricity and I would certainly rather use a more eco-friendly solution if I could. These lights are impressively bright for being powered by solar energy. During the summer months, when we get the most daylight, these lights can stay on from sundown all the way until the next morning! Of course, you need to set it on the dim light setting (which is still pretty bright), but it's still impressive. As far as waterproofing/water resistance, we've had a few rainstorms so far and the product is holding up like a champ. Still, there are some things that made me think.. "Geez, this product is really great in the mind's eye, but not as great when actually using it". Here's why: 1) See how the solar panel is firmly attached to the light fixture? That severely limits your placement of these lights. Sure, you'd love to put these lights behind your bushes or somewhere out of sight to give your house a really cool effect. But guess what, the panels will (likely) not get enough light that way to charge the batteries. So, instead, you need to find nice open areas to put these lights... which may be a bit of an eyesore depending on where you put it. Also, the solar panel only rotates in the same plane as the light. So, unless you're planning to position the light in the same plane as the path the sun takes, it's impossible to rotate the panel to collect optimal light. What would really make this product great is if the solar panel was detached from the light fixture completely (except by a cable, of course). It would be easy to hide the cable under mulch or greenery and you would have free reign to put the light at an optimal aesthetic position while positioning the solar panel for optimal light collection. 2) The rechargeable battery, which admittedly gives respectable charge duration, is a rather non-standard (in my opinion) 18650 lithium battery. I dunno... wouldn't it have been much more convenient to use rechargeable AA batteries? It would have made the product so much more user maintenance friendly.

easy to assemble and learn how to operate
Well-packed, easy to assemble and learn how to operate, simple to install, easy to adjust lamp and solar panel, worked perfectly right off the bat! When I reviewed this product on Amazon, I realized it was a big step above other solar lamps. The product has real solar panels that are adjustable to maximize solar charge to the 2200 mAh lithium battery. I also noted the 4-led lamp head is adjustable vertically which in my case, I needed to aim the light low to accent a walkway, The LED lamp has low and high brilliancy settings.I found the low setting was more than sufficient for my job, so the battery should not experience a full discharge overnight. A full discharge can destroy a lithium battery. The only thing I had to do to assemble the solar lamps was mount the solar panel with the thumb-screw. Then I tapped the provided peg into the ground where each lamp was to be located. I inserted the lamp on the peg but did not turn it on so the battery would be charged almost a full day. The next day, I turned the lamps on on by depressing the switch on the back of the solar panel. One click is low setting, 2 clicks is high setting and 3 clicks is off. I was concerned about a nearby pole lamp causing light interference but when I checked the lamps at nightfall, all 4 were lit up. Had there been an issue with the pole lamp. it may have been resolved by adjusting the solar panel. I ran across one issue in the instructions for Maintenance and Batter Replacement. Step 2 mentions the battery may need replaced if lamp fails to light up after being use around 8-12 months. My experience with lithium batteries found they last many years under proper use and charging. I also found that just one complete discharge will kill a lithium battery so that it cannot be recharged. In Specifications of the instructions, it is stated that the working time for the battery in low light stetting is 8-12 hours.I get the feeling that the 8-12 months statement really meant more than 8-12 hours in low light setting may cause a complete discharge and the battery would need to be replaced .In high light setting, the battery could be fully discharged in around 4-6 hours according to the instructions. Users need to pay attention to that. My sister took the other 4 lamps I ordered and said they are working perfectly after she installed them. 10/2/17 update These lights make excellent emergency lights when electric power is down! I went outside and pulled 2 lights off the peg and lit up the interior. They will light all nightlong on low setting.

Very nice at first...but....
I have had these out now for almost 6 months with no problems. Unlike the ones I had purchased at Lowes, which leaked and died out after only a few months, these are well sealed and do *not* leak. We get a lot of rain here in FL (and/or the irrigation system sprays water on them), so it is imperative they are sealed well. I have them shining on two Crape Myrtle trees in front of house. Put out a good amount of light at max setting. They are not as bright as wired lights, but sufficient for accenting trees, etc., in the landscape. They do the job! Work even on partly cloudy days. I am definitely ordering more! Update: I have found some of my lights, though water resistant, have screws that are not. They need to be taken out to change the battery. The screw threads are fine...but the heads have corroded so badly on two of my lights, I cannot get them undone (screw heads easily become stripped, even with the most careful attempt, because they have deteriorated so badly). I would suggest these screws be coated with something to prevent corrosion before you put them out. A third, after about two years, no longer shines as bright as it once did, even with a new battery installed. So they don’t have a long life span in this environment. Another update. Over the last three years I have purchased several of these. I loved them the first year or two. BUT...when the battery starts going, you’re in for a real challenge. First, it’s difficult to find just the right battery. I had to order online from somewhere other than here (and the local Batteries Plus charges $20/battery!). I don’t know if it’s the quality of batteries, or the unit itself. But I not been able to obtain the same, high quality light I did when I first had them. I have tried several different ones. Very disappointed. Maybe this is common in these solar floodlights. I have switched to a similar light from Home Depot. It’s cheaper, gives off a softer light. And when I replace the batteries....it works just as it did when it was new. 😕
