A group of aliens have come to Earth to learn about its population, customs, etc. To avoid detection, they have taken on human form which gives them human emotions, physical needs etc. WITHOUT the understanding of what they mean or the inhibitions normally present in humans. Their leader takes the position of a college professor, their military expert as his sister, their intelligence expert, supposedly oldest of group takes form of his teenage son. The uninhibited reactions turn everyday events into unusual situations. Review: One of the most hilarious sitcoms ever -- very poorly handled by NBC - This group of "aliens" to the planet Earth are hilarious. It's difficult to pick out a favorite among them. Of course Dick (whose name is used quite a bit in some riskque episode titles) played by Lithgow is terrific, Sally the lady who is practically an desertcart is great in her role, Harry is one of my favorites simply because he's so goofy and comes out with a profundity every now and then, and Tommy, the oldest among them gets to be the youngest in an Earth body. It fared okay its first season; but then NBC started juggling this show around in its lineup--making something like 17 time slot changes in its six year run--how could it ever get a consistent audience like that? Trust me, unless you're very prudish about some of the risque comments made tongue-in-cheek, you'll split your sides laughing at the antics of this "squad" of aliens trying to learn more about how people live on Earth. I find the later episodes just as funny as the early ones. Had it been placed more prudently by NBC it would have likely been the "Happy Days" or "Seinfeld" of its time. (Incidentally, Newman of Seinfeld, is "Don" in this series--a policeman with a huge attraction to the very tall-legged Sally!). I can watch it on prime video; but I wanted the DVD's because the price was right, and sometimes the server doesn't get through to prime--and I didn't want anything interfering with my weekly or less dosage of 3rd Rock from the Sun. Review: Hilarious-Laugh Out Loud Funny - Back in the mid to late 90's when this series originally aired I was just too busy to catch all the episodes. The shows I did catch never failed to make me laugh, so I decided to purchase the complete series and find out what I missed. I'm glad I did. I've just finished the first season and am looking forward to viewing the remaining five. This show is hilarious. Only John Lithgow could pull off his quirky role as Dick Solomon, the High Commander of a group of aliens who have traveled to earth to study what it is to be human. To aid their studies, they all have assumed human form but are completely clueless when it comes to human emotions, social norms and customs, which they now must navigate. Therein lies the humor. I particularly enjoy the interactions between Lithgow and his human love interest, Dr. Mary Albright, who is brilliantly played by Jane Curtin. Lithgow's struggles to identify and cope with his emotions and desires combined with his complete lack of social filters make his attempts to win Curtin's affections really funny stuff. Each season contains 20 or more episodes and there are extras such as bloopers, highlights and cast interviews. In short, the set offers many hours of entertainment.

Defenity worth it!
I had rented the first season from the local video store and found the show to be hysterical. Unfortunately, the video store only had the first season. So I looked '3rd Rock From The Sun' up and came across the seasons 1-6 bundle, which were much cheaper than buying the all of the seasons separately. Some of the bundles weren't very much cheaper but I ended up finding a good deal on one bundle. I saved up the money and eventually ordered it, shocked but happy that the cheaper bundle handed been bought yet. I read what the seller had to say, and considering they were still sealed I figured it was a safe deal. The e-mail that [...] sent me saying that my order had been shipped and was expected to arrive between July 16th and July 23rd. I recieved the bundle on the 16th and was amazed that the item had been delivered so early. I was even more amazed that each season came with a funny booklet of information about the aliens and they're thoughts and fears, four dvds (most including six or seven episodes) and some of the cases "talked" if you pushed a button and season two even came with a set of 3D glasses for two 3D episodes. The designs on the cases were very creative. With all that said I would highly reccomend this item to anyone who enjoys 3rd Rock From the Sun or is looking for a show that is both a comedy and has a sturdy and creative plot. Though, before buying one set I would look around to see if there are any cheaper ones if the seller seems trustworthy.

Laugh out loud fun.
I loved all the double-entendres! And the honesty. The writers for this show did an excellent job let alone the actors. Thanks, Claire

What a "gold deal" on the set!!!
I already owned seasons 1-3 and had planned to buy the rest as they came on GB deals-well this deal came up and it was as cheap for me to purchase the entire set for a few dollars more than to buy seasons 4-6 separately. What is REALLY nice is these are individually wrapped and then wrapped again as a set-so guess what a few lucky folks will be getting for Christmas??? As for the series, IMHO which is shared by millions, IT IS one of the BEST adult comedy shows ever!!!! The actors are so well casted which is a rarity in itself. The writing is quick, intelligent, and witty. I cannot say how many times I laughed out laugh and eagerly awaited the next show to air the following week. Are all the shows a solid 5? No, but at least 3/4's are and the rest are still enjoyable. Although the Twilight Zone (the complete expensive series) is #1 in my heart for sci-fi, w/ the Outer Limits a close second, then Night Gallery, etc., this IS my favorite all time comedy TV show. Sometimes it is so relaxing to watch a show that doesn't require you to think, but simply laugh and be entertained.

Laughs for life
I was a fan of this show when it aired originally and still am. The writing is pure genius. Once I bought the set, I started with season one and went through each season one at a time. I am now on season five and it's amazing how much better it gets each season. I was in grad school when it was on the air and I often missed episodes because of class (this was before TiVo). It is a pure joy to revisit these brilliant episodes and know I can return to them anytime I want. I can't wait to see what season 6 is like!

Wonderful Program - Mediocre Video - Laugh Track so Loud It Ruins Enjoyment
G Why didn't I notice that Mills Creek distributes these videotapes? That's a pretty sure sign of mediocre copying. But these videos are "much" worse. The outrageously loud laugh-track makes viewing a thoroughly annoying experience. I cannot endure more than a few minutes of viewing. I should definitely have returned these.

Excellent US comedy for once.
I don't normally go for US comedy, I really only like 'The Fresh Prince' 'The Simpsons' and 'Third Rock', don't see what all the fuss is about Friends and how thats the biggest sitcom in the world, frankly that lost its touch after series 3 I think and its on C4 and E4 all the time so I don't see why anyone would pay to but it. Anyway, this is about 3rd Rock which I have to say is one of my best loved sitcoms, its up there with 'The League Of gentlemen' Only Fools & Horses' The Office' and 'Father Ted'. I remember when this first aired over here shortly after it aired in the States. This show came around mid-1997 and was first shown on late Tuesday nights on BBC2 but I only remember seeing the 1st 4 series when it was on BBC2 for some reasion, but I absolutely loved it and couldn't wait for every Tuesday to come round. Then in Feb this year it came to ITV2 and they aired 2 episodes every weekday from 7pm which was fantastic, but 139 episodes airing 8/10 once a week was bound to end soon, really they should have shown one episode every weekday at 7pm and then maybe show Spin City (which is also not too bad) then it would still be on TV now. Whats going on with the BBC? They lost this show to ITV then last year Channel 4 out bid them for The Simpsons. The BBC have lost 2 off their best US comedies, I hope the Fresh Prince comes around again soon, that was also shown on BBC2 in the mid-late 90s at 6:30pm after the Simpsons, maybe Channel 5 will try to buy that show next. But at last we have a complete box set on DVD. Odd why the US has only got a 1st series release so far. Lets hope ITV2 air more comedy week nights from 7pm soon.

Globalement ok
La boite en carton qui contient les DVD est cassée, un des dvd saute systématiquement à la lecture. Mis à part ça, ok.

Priceless
So far the discs have played perfectly. I can’t recommend this series too highly. It is one of a kind and a classic. I look forward to seeing episodes that might be new to me, but this is timeless comedy that is sometimes visual and sometimes intellectual, always immaculately performed and original and so retains it’s impact on repeat viewings. I can’t understand why I had to pay £79 for it though. NOW Amazon offer me an (aftermarket?) copy for £29. Perhaps it was value added by antiquity? I just hope all the discs work. But get the £29 one anyone who likes to laugh. Keep it in your medicine cabinet rather than anti-depressants.

It's the best comedy ever!
I first got hooked up on these series when they hit the small screen and I am more than delighted to see them now in a box set! I bought the set 2 weeks ago and will not rest untill I see every single episode! Watching 3rd Rock From the Sun is sooo addictive and is an endleess laughter! It'e the best TV comedy series ever! You will laugh with tears and sceam with crazy horror wanting to be part of this family! The cast is brilliant, John Lithgow is amazing as Dick Solomon so much so that I sometimes want to reach through the screen and slap his ever talking mouth. It's a must for everybody and it's a brilliant depiction of life as we know it! I LOVE it!

Surprised
The series is obviously worth 5 stars, but if Amazon don't fulfil the Order, it's rather pointless rating it. I buy all my DVDs from them, and it's surprising that they should risk incurring adverse customer feedback by advertising a product they either do not have in stock, and seem unable or unwillng to deliver - at least at the price quoted, which is significantly less than anywhere else. As matters stand, you are left wondering whether there is even the possibility of delivery, whether you should be looking for another supplier, and how much reliance you can place on what they say. NOTE: This is the ONLY occasion when I have had cause to complain in an otherwise excellent service.
