Incredible device. The tech feels a little dated, but that hardly matters. In a world where everything is a subscription, it’s nice to have a standalone device that holds actual files that you can use forever. It comes with plenty of sessions built in, and the forum has a community that have many other sessions available. You can also make your own, although there is a learning curve with that; but if you love to tinker, it’s great. The battery life seems pretty good - it lasts several hours before needing a recharge. It comes with a USB -> Mini-USB (not micro), but can easily be used with a USB-C -> Mini-USB cable if you want to maintain only USB-C cables. The visual experience is fantastic. Sound quality is as good as the headphones you use with it. The device comes with earbuds which are fine, but I upgraded mine to some with higher quality. But the visuals are really what makes this device incredible. It truly does allow you to hallucinate rich patterns and colors: Klüver form constants (checkerboards, fractals, etc) pop out, as well as a strong perception of impossible colors (Chimerical colors, Stygian colors, hyperbolic colors). I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore these types of closed eye visuals and a state of deep relaxation and hypnagogia.

Remember the flashing 'disco lights' in Saturday Night Fever which were synchronized with the music? Maybe you or someone you knew had a light-box connected to their stereo amplifier so the 8-track would make the lights flash . . . that is the program in this MP3 player. It comes with two sets of LED goggle-glasses (one for only wearing with eyes closed, the other for wearing with eyes open or closed) and dozens of meditative tracks for assisting you to relax, meditate, practice active-contemplation, or just be entertained. Charged with included USB cord. Recommend using this with a much better set of headphones, but it does come with a set of cheap earbuds. If you are a moderately advanced audiophile (with your own music-creation software) it is simple to load your own music onto this MP3 player. If you are not an advanced audiophile, you can plug this MP3 playing into any external music source and run the synchronization program. Rock out and let the disco lights flash in your closed or open eyes! These are FRAGILE goggle-glasses. They will break if dropped. The chords will break if they are not handed with gentle care. The MP3 player, however, is sturdy and will withstand a fall from pocket-height. Because these glasses MP3 player do not have Bluetooth, the multiple chords can become tangled if you are not careful. USB charging in (6-8 hr charge depending on volume), Aux cable in (to connect your own music source), headphone/earbuds out, and glasses out. Highly recommend.

I’m 52, tech incompetent, and clean/sober. I purchased this as a meditation tool/ option/ variation. When I’m particularly rusty on practice or highly agitated, I need more help to re-connect with the calm. I like it. I ultimately chose this over the competitor’s device whose AVE has lots of research because I wanted more preset options to increase the odds I would 💙at least one. Plus Kasina’s device looks far more sleek/ small. I had originally intended to also buy one of the heartmath devices (which also has good research behind it) but this Kasina is so satisfying, I no longer have the desire. My favorite preset Kasina program is river & forest. I purchased the bundle with 2 types of eyewear because I had the impression one used it with eyes open and I had concerns my contact lens covered, bulging eyes might be uncomfortable in the standard frames. The instructions, however, suggest closed eyes so I do that (with contact lenses out) and it is comfortable. So the 2nd eye piece is in reserve. Yes, it’s rather pricy, although half that of another (different but similar) tool I have: a CES, the $800 name brand Alpha Stim. Also, when I think of what I pay to visit a workshop/ retreat/ counselor & duration of partaking in what I pay for, purchasing the most highly rated AVE, which with care will 🤞🏻 last many years, the $400 price tag seems less horrifying. I store all its components in a plastic shoebox for protection, near my meditation space, and rarely take it on trips (but when I do, I still pack the space hogging shoebox). I haven’t yet partaken of the other 4 program categories of mental state, but I do like knowing the Kasina has more to offer, as it’s likely that someday I’ll try & find another something to add to the repertoire.

The unit does what it is designed to do. But the controls are very awkward because the written information provided about the different programs does not match the actual program names in the device. So basically you have to just experiment with the many different programs to see what they do. An accurate description of the programs is desperately needed. But additionally the construction of the equipment is very poor. It feels to be constructed of very cheap plastic that doesn’t seem like it will last very long. I got this to replace a unit I bought in the 80’s that had a solid aluminum frame and lasted 37 years. I’d be surprised if this one that was triple the price lasts more than 2-3 years. But I couldn’t find anything better. So this might be the best currently on the market. I am keeping mine despite its faults. I use the Rejuvination program before bed and it has dramatically improved the quantity of deep sleep I get as reported by my Apple Watch. But given its high price and significant faults I still only think it only merits two stars. Update: It lasted 3 years before it stopped working and I threw it away. I downgraded it to 1 star for that reason.

I struggle with both mild narcolepsy and sleeplessness. I have daytime sleepiness, then perversely, at night, I can’t sleep. Desperation has made me look outside of conventional treatments (I.e. Ambien had me cooking a three course meal overnight that I have no memory about). I had tried something similar to Kasina in the 90’s and then woke up with drool all over my chin. But that was $300, which was a lot of money in the 90’s. I ordered the Kasina, and after it arrived, sat for 3 weeks. I started using the “sleep” setting, and much to my surprise, it worked. I fell into a deep sleep each time. 4 nights in a row. To say the least, I was very surprised. I’ve tried the “meditate” setting (which dropped my blood pressure 30 points) and the “accelerate” setting, which didn’t create any difference. Obviously, “accelerate” means I’m in a continuous zen state, or I’m too dull to notice the difference. Regardless, sleeping and lowered blood pressure for me is worth it. Considering how many people suffer from insomnia or high blood pressure, and the expense, it might be a viable alternative, in my opinion. I will update this as experience warrants. UPDATE: August 22,2022. Please pay attention to the notes regarding fragility. I was careful, and now am going to update readers on how to fix the broken glasses when they break. It will generally happen on the stem from the glasses to over the ear part. It’s a pretty easy fix, but it’s silly for them not to insert a .50 cent metal ear stem available at any gas station. However, it will break where it goes from narrow to fat plastic. The first time, the pieces will fit perfectly, so all you have to do is put super glue in, sprinkle it with baking soda, let it dry and you’re done. If your head is wider, you may want to coat this in liquid plastic. I haven had to do that (yet). If it breaks again, sand or file the ends flat, and repeat the first step. The glasses work well for me, but the breakage is inexcusable for a $400 system. It’s like cheap vinyl in a Benz, you wonder what the hell they were thinking?

I have a KASINA for a short time and I have not yet fully tested, but it meets everything that is written about it. The design of the device is nice and the quality of the device seems very good to me. The cabling of headphones and glasses is a bit annoying, but you get used to them. The operation is very simple. Both glasses can create interesting shapes and draw you into yourself. The headphones are very good but weaker in deep frequencies (compared to my JBL). So far, I have tried few sessions from many uploaded, but the ones I have tried are very interesting and mainly functional. I also downloaded many other sessions from the site. I haven't achieved deeper meditation yet, but it will obviously get better over time, I feel it after every other session played.

I didn't have any experience with these audio/visual devices, I took a leap based on the reviews and it has been a game changer. I have been using the Kasina for about three months daily every morning for 20-30 minutes and often before bed. For the first several weeks, I thought it was 'cool' with the nice sounds and light show. I found that it did seem to ease my anxiety. I am 64 years old and have ADHD diagnosed at 62. My anxiety and short temper has taken it's toll and nearly ended my 22 year marriage. After a month or so of use and currently, I go into a half dream/ half awake state after about 10-15 minutes during every session. This is known as the hypnagogic state that occurs during deep meditation. The meditative effects stay throughout the day and has almost completely diminished needless worry and anxiety and cleared my mind so I can concentrate more. My short term memory has also improved. As anyone with ADHD knows, it is difficult to stick with anything long term, yet I look forward to daily sessions and make the time for them. A word of caution: the blinking LED's take a bit of getting used to, but you can turn the brightness down until you acclimate. At first glance, it looks like an old school IPod with VR glasses, but it has been a great tool for me for meditation.

I love the Kasina (definitely 5 stars), but my experience with this seller was disappointing for two reasons. The Amazon listing, the user manual in the box, and the seller's website all say that the user must install the SD card. I opened a complaint with Amazon, because the SD card was not in the box. The seller informed me that the SD card was preinstalled. I have never used an SD card before, so I did not notice that the card was already installed. This issue wasted several hours of my time. The bigger issue, that cost me even more time, is that the Kasina does not work with Windows 10 or Ubuntu Linux via a USB connection. In Windows I can sometimes access the file system, but I can never hear audio over USB. In Ubuntu, I can hear audio over USB, but I cannot access the file system. The seller claims that the Kasina is compatible with these systems, so I attempted some recommended fixes that all failed. I finally decided to buy a $10 SD card reader to access the file system and to connect PC audio output to the Kasina Aux input. The seller should make this issue very clear to buyers and tell them how easy it is to solve with a card reader. In fact, I believe the seller should offer an SD card reader as an optional purchase when placing an order at Amazon and explain clearly why having the card reader could be worth the extra money.

It is totally worth it. The second day I used it I had a lucid dream. In an other session it was so relaxing that I fell asleep.

I wanted to use this to experiment with 40 Hz optical and aural stimulation following the exciting results of using this to reverse Alzheimer's in mice. It is a massive improvement on the monochrome and two colour so-called 'light and machines' of old, and is also a useful recreational tool and aid to meditation. I found that the Ganzfeld goggles didn't work for me, as keeping my eyes open through a session was tiring: I much preferred the standard goggles.

Helps to quiet the mind, raise and expand consciousness, and open new possibilities to arise.
