I don't know if you could bypass a clean lock with a needle. **Q: Why did abus use a 1970s design that can be decoded in 30 seconds with a magnet??? was going to buy, but not so sure now wth.** A: Didn't know that but if it's true it wouldn't have changed my buying decision because I don't believe this lock or most any other is much better than a deterrent. I wanted something that would hold up to bad outdoor weather and take thieves at least a few extra minutes to think about whether they wanted to risk the extra time. It's done its job so far--needs graphite once a year or so because it gets rained on for a few months every year. **Q: I can't find a combination for this lock or instructions on how to set one. Please help, thanks.** A: It has been one year since setting the combination but you must have the lock open and then insert a pin down the hole for the shackle so that you can then reset the password of your choice.If you cannot open the lock then you cannot change the combo.
