New Favorite Work Shoe
I don't do reviews much, but these boots really helped me (I'm on my second pair) and they might help you too. They're not as tough as a construction boot and they are not a substitute for them, but that is fine. They're an everyday work boot that is built well and are thoroughly impressive in every way. The big attraction is the insole. They support your foot evenly and it shows over time in the wear pattern on the bottom. I've tried a hundred boots and what ends up happening is the insole material collapses relatively quickly and unevenly, and your foot is no longer parallel to the ground. This causes joint pain, particularly in the knees, and I have to wonder how many people live with this and associate it with age or injury, and never consider their shoes may be causing the problem? (Memory foam and other materials are particularly good for this.) While it sounds uncomfortable, the best part about these boots is a firm insole that doesn't collapse. It maintains its shape and provides superior support througout the life of the boot. This is the first pair of boots I ever owned that were worn out, across the sole and worn completely evenly, before problems like this began to occur. The laces and eyelets are of good quality and lasted the lift of the boot. (Although they would come off easier with round laces.) Comfort is excellent. Water repellent qualities are good, They're stylish, if you're into that. You can get them from Amazon in wide sizes you will never, ever find on a shelf anywhere. I am very, very happy with these boots and as long as Rockport doesn't screw with them in some fundamental way and mess them up, I'll probably continue to purchase them forever. If you are noticing knee pain or other joint issues from walking or climbing? Check your shoes! Maybe try a pair of these. I hope this helps someone.

Still the Best After 5 Years!
I can wholeheartedly say I absolutely love these boots! I just received my second pair after wearing my first ones as daily drivers for about five years. They held up incredibly well! Only recently did they start coming apart enough for me to finally order a new pair. These boots have been through it all: long work days, miles of city walking, and even deep puddles in torrential rain, and my feet have always stayed completely dry. The waterproofing is outstanding! Theyโre also stylish enough to wear anywhere, and Iโve gotten countless compliments on them over the years. The fit is excellent, theyโre super comfortable, and I canโt wait to break in this new pair. If youโre on the fence, trust meโฆthese boots are worth it!

The Rockport Storm Surge is no match to the Rockport Elkhart
For years, I've had Rockport Elkhart boots for use in the field and in the office... Yes, the plain toe of it looks just like a casual shoe. Every Elkhart felt 'broken in" the first time I ever put them on. I bought the Storm Surge because I liked the common plain toe look of it compared to the Elkhart, but when putting it on, I immediately noticed a difference between the two; No tab in the back to pull up the boot when putting it on. Also, Rockport Storm Surge provides flat laces (good), but no quick clasps at the upper 2 lace points, only grommet type all the way for lacing, which makes putting them on much more time intensive with needing to put fingers between the laces to "tighten" them up". To continue my comparison with the Elkhart; It has 2 rows of quick clasps for the upper lace points, with larger eyelets for the bottom lace points to allow them to be very quickly put on. And the Elkhart is provided with the "cheapish" round laces which allows them to "lace up quick". TIP: I have "KiWi Outdoor Rounds" as replacement laces when the Rockport lace's outside sheathing breaks.. The Kiwi's quality far surpasses Rockport's source and they should use Kiwi's instead of theirs. For comfort: The Storm Surge felt as though they will need some breaking in period. The problem being the upper part seems to be too "loose"..?? I'm not quite sure how to explain it.. I couldn't get the laces with the grommets as tight as can be had with the Elkhart, so maybe that's the reason. I'll still keep the Storm Surge's though because they are solid boot, but only a 7, where I consider Elkhart's being a 10. I won't be ordering any more Storm Surges, but will add Elkhart's to my many number of unworn pairs of them when I see them on sale. The Elkhart's are the best! Additional comment after wearing the boots a few times: I'm upping the Storm Surge to a 4 star from a 3 (compared to a 5 star for the Rockport Elkhart). Because I did improve the boot (for me).. I had trouble putting on and taking off the boots, needing to tighten each of the upper 4 or 5 rows of flat laces individually to get a comfortable fit and loosen each of those 4 or 5 to take the boots off (not at all like that with the Elkhart's). However, I switched the flat laces with the aforementioned "KiWi Outdoor Round" laces on these boots and it's a world of difference (see the pic), and also left the tab on the boot's tongue out of the lacing, and putting them on and off is MUCH more bearable now!!! Replace the flat laces with the Kiwi Outdoor Round laces (54' available here at Amazon) and I guarantee, you'll be more happy with these boots!

My favorite work boots but not at first
I shopped carefully for this pair of work boots, reading reviews for my preferred features (round natural toe, wide enough to insert custom insoles, lightweight, waterproof, short top, clean smooth surface that wouldnโt collect dust, moderate sole that would allow comfortable walking) and this boot fits those wants better than any pair Iโve ever had. I am on my feet 12-14 hours a day walking construction sites as an inspector and my feet ache with heavy-soled boots but hikers collect too much dust. I wasnโt too worried about other peopleโs reviews that mentioned wearing out quickly because I clean and oil my boots regularly (dirt tears boots up fast when left in the seams) though I wondered how the soles would hold up. Theyโre doing great. I was a little concerned at first because they were stiff at the ankle and made my ankles hurt for a couple of weeks before they softened up. That was a surprise because reviews had said that the padding was comfortable. It wasnโt at first. I donโt lace the top eyelet and they feel great now that theyโre softened. I walked through standing water all day one day and they only leaked around the tongue when they were submerged 4-5 inches. Amazing waterproofing. Could not be more pleased. Will definitely replace with the same boots when they do wear out. These are now my go-to summer boots. Note: they do run a tad wide. Works for me because I pull the insole and put memory foam soles inside. And I think they would not work so well for winter boots. 1-year update: I just finished Shoe-Gooing these boots because other than the soles separating from the uppers, theyโre in top-notch condition. I wore them through the winter with thick wool socks and a thinner insole and they worked great. Iโve gone through three pairs of insoles and many pairs of shoe laces but the shoes just keep on going. Couldnโt recommend them more.

Looking good comfortable boots!! Look no furthering.
These are some awesome boots. I believe I am on my 4th pair. I wear them a lot in the chilly cold season (daily) and in the warm/hot season when I do any labor where my feet may get abused. Also bought the most recent pair to wear with business casual for two outside weddings. Definitely recommend these boots and rockport shoes in general.

these boots are wonderful. Some points to note
For the most part, these boots are wonderful. Some points to note: Scuffing: As with most leather goods, they will scuff if you knock them against something (which I constantly do, working as a barista in a busy coffee shop). It's to be expected, and while the upper leather bit of the shoe is absolutely sturdy, it has a soft texture. Any scuffs that happen are easily buffed out. If you work in a job or have a lifestyle that is rough and tumble on footwear and you're going to get miffed about scuffs, I would suggest changing jobs or lifestyles because stuff happens. Soles: I ordered these shoes back in February, and sadly I've already worn a hole in the sole of my right boot. This is, most likely, a result of faulty material paired with intensity of wear. I've read a number of reviews on these as well as the Storm Riders and Rugged Bucks (I'm 95% sure these are all the same boot, rebranded), and it seems to be a common problem with this style of boot. I'm guilty of wearing them to work and out and about, so suffice to say I've worn the ever-loving hell out of these bad boys. That said, this is the first boot in a while I've worn through the toe of, and I've had these for about four months less than most of my other boots. Leather Construction: Despite the failure of the soles to stand up to heavy-duty wear as expected, the upper part of the boot is wonderful. The leather has retained its shape, and has shown to be waterproof as promised. All in all, I absolutely love these boots. While I'm a little bummed that they didn't last as long as I would have hoped, they are gorgeous, have good support, and look amazing. If you have a job that keeps you on your feet, I would recommend ONLY using them for work, or ONLY using them for casual use. Combining work and lifestyle seems to be more intense than these boots can take, sadly.

Rockport Hydro-Shield Boots: Built to Last. Rockport has always been a trusty friend!
For the past two and a half years, my Rockport boots with Hydro-Shield waterproofing have been an absolute workhorse. As someone with a five-day work week and a rough daily commute that throws everything from downpours to unexpected puddles my way, these boots have truly been put to the test โ and they have passed with flying colors. The Hydro-Shield technology is no joke. Despite being completely drenched on numerous occasions, my feet have remained consistently dry. This waterproof feature has been a game-changer, especially during those unpredictable weather days. I no longer have to worry about soggy socks or the discomfort of wet feet throughout my workday. What's truly remarkable is the overall condition of the boots after such consistent and demanding use. Aside from some expected wear on the soles, the boots look and feel almost new. The leather has held up beautifully, showing minimal signs of wear and tear. The stitching is still intact, and the overall construction remains solid and dependable. These Rockport boots have proven to be incredibly durable and resilient. They've handled daily wear, challenging commutes, and all sorts of weather conditions without showing significant signs of aging. The fact that after two and a half years of near-daily wear, the only noticeable wear is on the soles speaks volumes about the quality of materials and construction. If you're looking for a pair of reliable, comfortable, and truly waterproof boots that can withstand the rigors of daily life and demanding conditions, I wholeheartedly recommend these Rockport Hydro-Shield boots. They are an investment that will undoubtedly pay off in the long run, providing years of dependable service. I'm incredibly impressed with their longevity and performance.

NO WARRANTYRockport doesn't support Didn't last a year even with repairs.
** UPDATE 7-23-2025 ** After one year, these boots have completely failed, beyond even what shoe goo can save. They've were living on shoe goo after only 5 months with the rejection of warranty from Rockport and Amazon. The soles on both shoes have detached and the stitching around the cuffs is open but glued together. I have Never had issues like these with other boots or shoes so it's not "user error". So to be honest, these shoes lasted 3 months before I had to order several tubes of Shoe goo and a brush to roughen up the areas for shoe goo to stick to. (How To if you have these bots: Roughen with brass/stainless brush, clean with alcohol, let dry, apply shoe goo and keep opening taped firmly until shoe goo is cured.) โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ Previous review and updates: DO NOT BUY - Stitching failed at 2 months and waterproof failed in about half a year! NO WARRANTY from Rockport nor Amazon. I liked these boots until the seam at the top of the left cuff came loose to show the foam inside. I contacted Rockport and they said Amazon is responsible for warranty and Amazon says Rockport is. So, NO WARRANTY I originally had these as 5 star review because they grip wet surfaces great and repel water, but after use they fall apart fast so I can't suggest them to anybody else. Look for another brand that actually supports their warranty when purchased from Amazon. --ETA: NO WATERPROOFING After half a year has past. Both boots near the toe, the "Hydro Shield" coating has peeled back and whenever there's water above the sole, it gets to my sock eventually. I really liked them, or I guess I wanted to, but they are lemons, I expected better but I will now order Chinese knock offs that last longer than the official junk.

They are waterproof - Great for walking around paddocks, forrest and every day
I was worried about the comments re these not being waterproof but that hasn't been the case for me at all. I've been walking in these comfortably around wet grass and forrest land. They're super comfortable to wear and don't look out of place in the pub either. Im usually a 9 and the 9 in these was a great fit for me. Tempted to buy another pair as backup incase they stop selling them one day!
