Good start
Good enough for people trying to understand jokes and joke writing but not the best you’ll ever read. Material is abit dated and dry

Advanced "Mind Maps", and then some, for inventing jokes
About 8 weeks ago I entered the humorous speech competition at the Eastbourne Speakers Club (UK). I tried to write some jokes using "Mind maps", and managed to win the 1st leg of the competition (I was knocked out in the 2nd round). The way I was using mind maps was the same way I use then for writing regular speeches or requirements analysis for Software. My techniques were not specialized enough for writing jokes. The Serious Guide to Joke Writing: How To Say Something Funny About Anything starts with mind maps, and then evolves the process, to assist you to specifically create jokes. She does this using tried and tested techniques from her Joke writing classes, which she refers to throughout the book. Indeed, the exercise in her book, are taken from her class. I intend to use this book to write jokes for a stand-up routine, and if you are the sort of person who uses tools such as "mind maps", and you need to write some jokes, then I would recommend this book to you. It is well written, well thought out, well researched, and just generally useful for orienting your brain to discover jokes.
