The SOG Kiku is an absolutely gorgeous knife...
So I was given a smaller Kershaw knife a few years ago as a gift and It's a nice little knife. What I liked most about it is the flick opening mechanism on the back side of the handle. As I was looking for another SOG knife the other day I saw this beautiful knife with the incredible looking scales AND the same opening mechanism that I loved on the Kershaw! This sort of serindipity is the kind of thing that makes me lose all control around the Buy Now button. When the knife arrived and I tore open the shipping envelope and then carefully opened the box, it was even more beautiful than it looked in the photos on the site. The Linen Micarta on the handle is not only gorgeous but very functional, feeling great in the hand and provides a very solid grip on the knife. The nub that you use to flick the blade open becomes a very nice and effective guard to ensure that your hand doesn't slip forward on to the VERY sharp blade. So, convenience and safety in one little detail of the blade. The blade itself is beautiful. The Japanese knifemakers are world renowned for a very good reason. It's quite thick along the top and the subtle tanto style shape of the lower, edged portion narrows to literally nothing. This is a serious blade. It's also an extremely capable blade. The knife as a whole is substantial, heavier than most pocket folders but beautifully balanced when it's open. In one of the photos, I'm holding the closed knife in my palm to show scale. I'm 6'4" and about 220 and my hands are proportionate. This is not a great knife for someone with small hands. But it IS a great knife.Other than SOG, I own Victorinox, Kershaw, Spyderco and one Cold Steel (hey, don't shame me, I just liked the way it looked with its traditional looking tanto style blade). Quality knives matter to me and this is gonna be one of my favorites. It's the only blade I'm taking on a six day camping trip in a couple of weeks. This knife is certainly not the cheapest thing you can find on Amazon but I think that, for what you're getting, it's VERY fairly priced. If you can afford it (and your hands are big enough) I highly recommend it!As a matter of fact, I like this knife so much that I've got a Kiku XR LTE coming on Friday!

Thoroughly impressed!
Very impressed with this knife. Been collecting knives for a short while and I wasn’t too familiar with SOG but I’m very happy with the style, quality and performance of the Kiku XL. The knife is stout, has character and is quite sharp out of the box.The ergonomics are great and the edge is extremely sharp. The natural linen micarta looks quite stark out of the box, but after a few hours of handling it begins to pick up the natural oils from your hands and develops a darker, deeper textured finish which looks amazing. For the price this is an amazing value for a knife that looks badass and has a solid quality build.

Good, heavy duty EDC knife
Nice heavy duty knife. SOG has stepped up their game and are producing some nice knives. This is the full weight version which I prefer. It has heavy liners and is a large knife - the type sold in the men’s department. Fit and finish is well executed. It feels good in the hand. I like the “knapped flint” turtle shell contoured Micarta handle scales. The grinds are well done and symmetrical. The knife is factory sharp but not hair splitting. Overall, I like it. Some of the subjective dislikes is the compound grind and the concave contour of the blade. I will withhold judgement until I successfully sharpen it. The lack of a sharpening choil makes it difficult as well.

Loves me some Kiku. You should too!
This is a 5 star knife for the money. There, I said it. Yet, I gave it 4 stars to be realistic. This is my 2nd fave EDC because of the Micarta and comfy flip action and liner lock. AND, it's a beast! It cuts tomatoes, twine, small wire, boxes, and just anything I throw at it. The short blade seems odd at first, but it's amazing at what it does. The Micarta is a bit fru-fru for me, but the ease of deep pocket carry and the heft in the hand make it a beast you can actually EDC. This is the best value in EDC in my collection. But it's not a 5 star knife. The blade is not slicey and the action is sloppy if it's the least bit dirty. That's OK, it is great for what it is. The Japan manufacturing point and great usual price is just a bonus.

Nice comfortable beefy folder
I have two of these now in different colors. I'm not a fan of the reverse tanto blade shape as it makes it harder to sharpen, but you can smooth out the transition point in sharpening without too much trouble. It opens/deploys easier from the flipper than the thumb hole IMO. The XR lock is super smooth as well. The XHP blade steel sharpens surprisingly easy and holds an edge well. The knife is super well made and the handle material is very comfortable and durable. It is a little on the chonky side weight wise but it isn't bad enough to keep me from carrying it.

Great Quality, Look & Feel
I have a few different BenchMades, SpyderCo’s and four or five SOGs. Couple of older Italian stilettos as well etc, but what attracts me to the SOGs is the affordability and reliability. Mentioning some of these other brands, it can be a little bit nerve-racking carrying around a $300 or $400+ knife, if you lose it- that’s a BAD day. SOG offers similar quality for about half of the more expensive EDC knife brands, but similar or the same quality. This particular buy a prime example of that. Actually started carrying my first SOG about 12 or 13 years ago in my high school years and still have the first one my friend bought me for Christmas in 2009. This knife is a great every day carry on my walks 3 to 5 hours per day on the nature trails here down in South Florida, and carry it with me all the time when just running around too. Definitely cannot be worn with dress occasion since it will weigh down your slacks or sports coat, but perfect to wear on athletic shorts, or clipped to your jean pocket. I’ve read some other reviews that say it’s a hit or miss with quality, the only thing negative I could say about this SOG and the others I own is that they’re usually not as sharp as some of the higher end blade brands (out of the box you may want to do a light sharpening), and they will require some blade tightening and sharpening when used and carried extensively. That’s about it.

What can you say...it's a SOG
It's a SOG and is what you would expect a SOG to be. Excellent quality, excellent craftmanship, and feel. Although I was expecting it to be bigger, I find it still functional. It is, for me, a little bulky and most likely more suitable to a knife with a pouch or pack-pouch attachment type carry. Saying that, it will be going to the field more and as a good utility knife. The downside? And all knives have downsides, are the knife is stiff when trying to open. So opening it quickly, and until it wears in, is stiff. Closing? Due to the thickness of the frame, for most, it will be 'hard' to get to the thumb notch. Again, the knife is new and needs some breaking in to conquer that and over time, it will be easier. The blade, remember it is a SOG, is not the sharpest I had, but it is razor sharp. It has a good definition and the blade is wide enough to handle most crafting functions. It's not a robust bush-knife but in a pinch it will work, or should work. My thoughts? If you are looking for a good all-purpose (carry, EDC, outdoor, craft, etc.) knife. this is one to have in your collection. Worth the money.....

Love my knife!
This knife is dope! This is my second Sog kiku knife. I had a G10 handle and wanted a micarta handle with satin blade finish. Excellent edc. The knife looks greenish grey in photos and the one I got the micarta scales are more a brown color but I still like it. I would highly recommend this knife.

Fuerte como un oso 🐻‼️
Realmente vale la pena cada centavo de su precio, es algo pesada pero a mi gusto es ideal, muy robusta su construcción y la hoja, ideal para campismo o edc.
