Big Fat Snare Drum - Steve's Donut 13".

The sound Change on the snare is amazing and I have both 14" and 13" snares and it works well on both with the 13" size.

I've been using BFSD for a few years or so (bought a new one recently) and it does its job well! Gives a nice low and dry sound for the snare. I usually have my snare tuned between a mid to high range so this comes real handy for songs where I'd like to have a low tuned snare. 5/5!

This review is obviously for drummers. I have my snare tensioned fairly tight and bright. We have a tune that requires a train beat and I wanted to soften the sound to a quasi-vintage one without having to change out the snare or change any tunings. Placing this on for this tune did the trick for a relatively low cost. It can also be used on other older rock tunes as well that you decide upon. I recommend it.

It does its job. Remarkably it does not detract from sound level, it may even be louder. The tone it gives is an acquired taste. I know that some folks love it, but I prefer to switch to a down tuned snare. I find the tone a bit blurry and it affects the definition and articulation of your drumming. On the other hand you can't always take along two snares and it is the best way to get completely different sound from your snare. If like me you hate to retune your snare after you have got it just perfect, then use this easily portable device.

Wow! I don't understand why this doesn't have more reviews. This product is the best drum accessory I've ever come across. I tuned my 14x7 ludwig supralite higher than I normally would. Threw the donut on it and bam!!! Instant fat snare sound. Took off some unwanted overtones that naturally come with a steel snare and kept the good tone, but lowered the fundamental pitch. My snare is sounding amazing!

I wanted a fat 60's snare sound and that muffled tom sound like on an old Al Green classic. This does that perfectly. They are durable and reliable as well.

You might wonder if this product affects your live concert drumming. But I can assure you with some effects on the sound console, it will rock like a real drummer without investing too much in an expensive snare.

These do a brilliant job of dampening sound, or giving any snare drum a fatter sound. Although for a slither of essentially just plastic they are extortionately priced, taking best advantage of a fairly limited market. A drum head cut to shape with some scissors does a near identical job, although not as nicely designed or easy to remove from the head.

I love how much these big fat snare products transform the sound of any snare. Any snare size I have I get one of these for it as it’s a tool I can’t do without. Sturdy material, should last you a lifetime. Don’t fold it.
