Great Plane for the Price!
Great airplane! Flies great, and lands smoothly. It usually glides for a second after rubber band runs out which helps it land. Some parts like the rudder, elevator and cockpit had to be glued so they don't move around. This particualar plane can be modified easily and even be flown tethered with special modifications, but for that you will need a different rubber motor for longer flight, and a tether, which can be made from things at home. It is not very durable though, so it may break if it hits something hard, but it is easy to fix with wood glue and it usually lands smoothly. For short, it is a great plane for it's price, and works great. Your kids will absolutely love this!

balsa wood airplane with landing gear
These planes are super lightweight (balsa wood) and won't last for long - but while they do, they are FUN. My 8 year old grandson had a blast. He wound it up, set in down on our sloped driveway and it actually took off from the ground with the wheels! These are very delicate and only lasted a couple of days, but my husband enjoyed the nostalgia of playing with them and introducing this 'old style' fun to our grandsons.

2 out of 4 arrived broken. Amazon won't allow a request for replacements
I ordered 4 of these balsa wood planes. Two arrived damaged. In fact, enough pieces were broken that I was unable to salvage a single working plane out of both kits. Amazon does not offer a replacement, but instead offers a refund if I RETURN the planes. Seems rediculous, given that this item is so cheap it was being sold as an "add-on" item in the first place. I am not going to UPS these back. Amazon - how about you do a better job of monitoring the other sellers who you represent on this website. I would like two replacement planes sent out with no shipping charges. I will send you a photo of your broken merchandise if you'd like.

Great purchase!
Purchased these planes for a stocking stuffer for my adult kids. I loved them as a kid and was curious how they would react. They loved them, my 19 & 21 year old played with them throughout the day. Well worth the purchase.

Just like the one they had when I was a kid
It is a good product. I only gave 4 stars because it was broken when delivered. They did replace it right away though and they were not broken the second time. It is just like the ones they had in the late 50's and 60's. They are a lot of fun for little ones. I will buy again but only have it shipped by itself.

Fun powered flight example for my CAP cadets!
While some that were received had cracks in the balsa wings, they fly great after assembly. Assembly was easy, done in few minutes, and then it was wind up the rubber band using the prop and let em fly right out of your hand. You need to go to a gym or outdoors because if they fly straight, they go 75 feet or more. Fun planes and easy to fly too they have some mass so if they hit something fragile, they can do damage. They aren't enough mass to hurt buildings, windows, cars, or people. But they can knock over lamps, or other top heavy stuff.

worthless
I originally got this so that I could qualify for free shipping instead of spending $5 on shipping.(plane or paying for shipping) This plane is junk. the wood is so thin and fragile that styrofoam is stronger. since it is do light, any variations in the weather causes it to lose control and crash. Mine also came with a chip on the tail, and that causes my plane to veer to the left up to 90 degrees. I figured that if i changed the design it would fly straight, but when it does, the rubber band only powers it for around 20 ft. But I do like the landing gear and the propeller assembly, they withstood direct impacts without bending, unlike some of my other planes. I guess this would be fun, as long as yours is in perfect condition, and are extremely carful with it. Have fun!

Great as a toy, could be fantastic as an micro r/c plane.
It actually last me a while. As it turns out, I wore out the rubber band before I actually manage to break the plane. haha Go figure. I'm now turning this into a micro R/C plane using a micro receiver with built in servos. I actually got it to fly without surface controls, but not for very long because it landed in one of our Dogwood trees and the motor mount came off. I would recommend for anyone getting into the r/c world to buy this just because it can be a great toy to fly using a rubber band and later turning into a micro balsa wooden r/c airplane. I'm just waiting for my carbon fiber rods to come in the mail. The wood does cut nicely when you have a nice pair of scissors. You will make a mistake, so be prepared. Oh and the landing gear isn't a good idea to have because of the weight and that it makes it harder to find the CG when finding the right spot to glue the wing in place. I'll upload pictures if I can when I get the plane to fly just like an r/c plane as a three channel.
