The 3M 36106 Perfect-It Gelcoat Medium Cutting Compound + Wax is formulated to remove moderate oxidation, weathering, dulling, and scratches as coarse as P1000 from gelcoat surfaces; leaving a high gloss wax finish. In contrast, the 3M 36110 Perfect-It Gelcoat Light Cutting Polish + Wax is designed to remove light to medium oxidation, swirl marks and scratches of P1500 or finer; leaving a smooth, high gloss wax finish. Oxidation of gelcoat surfaces can be assessed by the degree to which the white “chalk” transfers to the fingertip upon touch.
