You’ll get two servings from this pouch, but we doubt you’ll want to share. Our spin on this classic Indian curry dish from the Punjab region features delectable chickpeas in a blend of chilies and rice. It’s also high in protein and calories, making it the perfect way to refuel after a long day spent outside. You’ll hardly believe a pot, water, heat to get that water boiling, and 15-20 minutes of rehydration time is all that lies between you and a lightweight, nutritionally balanced meal.

Review: Maybe I don't expect a lot from freeze-dried meals, which also makes me cringe at their cost, but I think this meal was one of the better ones I've had. Yes, it's not restaurant or homemade quality. If you pick up a freeze-dried meal expecting that, then I don't know what to say. If you know what you're getting yourself into though, then this is a great addition to your meal rotation. Especially if you're looking for something meat-less. And as far as price goes, this is in one of the more affordable ranges for freeze-dried meals, which is nice as it gives me more options to take out with me. As others have mentioned, there is a noticeable spice to it. If you like spicy food, then it's nice to have that as an option and there were no digesting issues experienced from it. If you are sensitive to spicy foods though, then be warned. Especially if you have a limited supply of water with you.

I followed the instructions, but it was still a little underhydrated. So an added a splash of hot water and let it sit. For a really long time because I got busy doing other things. Then the consistency was good. I know not at all “survivalist”, but it tasted really good scooped on flatbread with Greek yogurt, chopped fresh coriander, and a squeeze of fresh lime. The portion is large enough for two. I really enjoyed eating this.

A: I have it in front of me. There is no butter but there is coconut milk. **Q: Is there Chana Dal in this? or is it just Garbanzo beans?**
A: This is more than just garbanzo beans. It tastes very good and is pretty spot on for Chana Dal.  I was very surprised at how spicy and flavorful it was.  I have added this to my regular rotation for hiking because it is really good.

A: The Backpacker's Pantry Chana Masala Two Serving Pouch, (Packaging May Vary)​ is made in a facility that makes other non gluten free products. However Backpackers Pantry does run it's Gluten Free offerings after cleaning and testing it's equipment to a 220,000PPM before processing gluten free products like this Chana Masala.

**Q: Can I make sure I receive product that still has 7 yrs shelf life?**

Maybe I don't expect a lot from freeze-dried meals, which also makes me cringe at their cost, but I think this meal was one of the better ones I've had. Yes, it's not restaurant or homemade quality.
