Nice American made product!
American made and it seems pretty nice so far. I'll add more to this review after more testing. I like the feel of the handle well enough but will definitely use some tool dip on it. The blade came pretty sharp right out the package but I had to work on it for about 30 minutes to get it shaving sharp. The blade sharpened up fairly easily to a very nice edge. The edge held up nicely when chopping and carving on some crazy hard oak. The sheath made me laugh and I threw it away. I had a pretty nice leather sheath that fits the 4" version of this knife much better than the included POS sheath. I'll add the link for that sheath that I bought on Amazon ASAP. This knife reminds me of the Cold Steel Drop Forged series but this knife is American made. As promised, link for sheath: https://a.co/d/0c8CRDDL Update: This knife definitely has a place in my backpack and emergency kit in the trunk of my vehicle. It's pretty much indestructible. I did dip the handle in tool dip to give it a better grip. This also improves how the knife fits in the sheath I sent the link for. If you don't want to dip your handle you can touch up scratches in the powder coat handle finish with a blueing pen. Birchwood-Casey makes these pens.

The edge isn't sharp and the handle could have been rubberized.
Just got my 6" blade today and was amazed how sturdy it is how balanced it is and it looks great. The only three problems I have with it is it's not sharp, has some type of lacquer coating on the sharp edge and the handle could have been coated in rubber instead of being powered coated. Other than those three things it's a great every day trail and camping knife. Gave it 4 stars instead of five due to those three problems. I will be sharpening it and rubberizing the handle.

Cool knife
What I wanted. It DOES NOT come sharpened. Mine had a dull enough edge it had powder coat on theโbladeโ. I can sharpen it myself so not a big deal but something to consider. Good solid knife otherwise.

Quality was not there
First I'd like to say I have serval axes and hatchets made by Estwing and I'm very happy with the quality of them. I thought the quality of the Bowie knife was not there the handle had a few bad spots on it, the blade was not very sharp and didn't come to a point (was rounded) I should have sent it back! I was going to buy the Estwing machete but I'm probably not now

"Estwing"! says it all!
Typical Estwing high quality. I GOT THE 6 INCH You could use it hard for the rest of your life and never wear it out! Heavy duty! WOULD BE GREAT small CAMPING machette, steak knife, game dressing,...bone chopping rope cutting, Nice balance! ,could double as a throwing knife

skip it
received with the tip basically blunted. as if someone had used it to st@b a brick. i saw other reviewers had similar issues but figured it was prob just a bad batch or one or two out of a thousand. anyway i just needed a cheap blade for gardening/yard use so i grinded it down and itll be fine for my purposes. seems as tho estwing has a quality control issue tho. i would say skip it.

Strong and good quality, handle is different
Better than alot of other knifes out there and unique. The handle is different than other more quick and nimble knives but I like the utility of it. More of a tool for your tool belt instead of a carry around knife. I love estwing stuff, for quality and made in usa.

not for me
Got it for my father for Christmas, he hasn't had any complaints. He asked for it because he heard great things about it and I am sure he would've said something about it by now if it was bad or didn't live up to the reviews he had heard

Rusty Knife
The knife was already rusting in the handle when received.
