We found it easy to split it down the middle before applying it. It came with adhesive that works great. It's all very easy to apply, and I didn't notice any odor coming from it.My tall elderly father had hit his foot a couple of times on the bed frame. This provides a nice padding and rounds the corner so that it's not sharp. It's peace of mind for me.
