I purchaced the Ionic running boards for my new Ford Transit. As a professional, I know to lay everything out , I did this on a work table, as I sepererated all the parts and get familiar with each one and their purpose. Also checking for full inventory against the instructions. I also thoroughly read the instructions from start to finish and layed them out on the table along with the proper tools called for in a well lit area in a warm clean garage. I couldn't have been any more prepared to do this install than the quality control engineers themselves. Ok, so I started by going above and beyond the instructions as I coated all the threads òn the bracket bolts with red loctite. I measured out and marked the locations of the the factory holes to be used as mentioned in the instructions. Keep in mind, I am working on a brand new van with only 300 miles on it. Now the fun begins, the first bracket to be installed is the passenger front one at 4" from the front wheel well using "longer L bracket" and a 7-1/4" twist strap. The end of the "L" bracket where it attaches to the inner truck frame with a nut and bolt set up through a factory tabbed hole seemed to have been over bent. This caused the 3rd hole down on the bracket to be pulled away from the factory hole because the bracket was not able to sit flush against the hole because it was over bent. I landed up bending the tab hole to get it close enough to get a bolt compleatly through. I would love to say that it only got better..but no, it didn't! The first plate bolt was the easiest because I read the instructions like a good boy and used the pan bolt plate for the front hole. For the rest of the hex bolt plates, most of the edges needed to be ground down with a grinder to fit in the factory holes of a brand new van. After all the brackets were installed on the passenger side, the brackets were not sticking out perpendicular (which was actually mentioned in the instructions) and I understood what the were getting at while I was installing the brackets. Now, the hight and pitch of every bracket was all over the place! And this is after making sure I followed there instructions of which holes to use in the straps they provided. Well, I managed to lossen the bracket bolts from being snug, (not tight but snug as per instructions), to very loose so I could mount the actual running board. Then went back and started at the middle and worked my way to front and back alternating to tighten evenly. What should have taken me a couple hours on each side landed up taking me 5 hours! It really humbled me to say the least. I'm afraid to mention that I have built Harley race motors from the ground up and these running boards kicked my ass badly! It wasn't till the next day that I put the drivers side on, which should have been easier....NOPE! I even call tech support to answer where an extra "L bent" strap went to that was clearly marked in the inventory list of the instructions, but not in the install instructions at all. No mention of it..and obviously the tech support rep couldn't figure it out either. It wasn't untill I was compleatly finished that I realised what it was for, I would have used it if I went with the 39 inch board instead of the 100" on the passenger side...but no mention of that in the instructions. Oh, and one more thing, the NFPA 71, which is the National Electric Code book is easier to understand than these instructions. I would have been beter off just improvising it my way and drilling my own holes in the inner rocker panel and used spread toggle type jam nuts. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Work great except for???? *by J***Y on Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2020* Love the running boards and highly recommend them except for??? Mounted them on a 2018 Transit 250 LWB. Installation is for the most part pretty straight forward. But download the on-line instructions as they are much easier to read.I did have to trim a couple of the rectangle supports mounted on the bolts as they just would not fit into the round hole. I have a grinder so no big deal but it could cause some people a small problem. I also had to do a little shimming on the right front bracket where it mounts to the body. The biggest problem with these though is not due to the running boards themselves but due to Fords unnecessary ugly lower trim along the rocker panels. This trim sticks out so far it cuts down the usable space of the running board by half making it dangerous when stepping out of the slider side door. It doesn't seem to bother the cab doors. I think this is due to the angle the person is at when exiting. I understand Ford does have a different trim that is used when ordering running boards from the factory but at over $200.00 for one piece of trim and $100.00 each plus tax, don't know about shipping costs, for the front ones it makes it a costly up grade. I do wish the running board company and dealers would mention this because I may have thought twice or at least been forewarned. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great product. Needed a little bench grinder work though *by S***D on Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2019* Installed on 2019 ford transit van. Took two of us 3 1/2 hours for both 100” passenger side and 39” driver side. I suggest you print out online instructions in color vs the black and white ones provided in the box. It makes it easier to position the supporting bracketsWe used a ramp to give us better access under the van. The only snag we hit was that many of the bolt plates that mount through existing holes in the van frame needed to make a trip to my bench grinder in order to fit in the holes. Just a slight rounding off the corners did the trick , but if we didn’t happen to have the tools and skill to grind those parts it would be impossible to installFinished product is fantastic. Better than Ford Oem board which wasn’t long enough to reach front passenger door and didn’t include driver door either.
