I am a 37 inch waist what size should I buy

I've had 3 of these belts.  For the price, they are good quality.  The chart "Hide & Drink" has posted here is more confusing than helpful.  The size of the belt you should order is the same size as your pant-waist size.  I'm a 36" waist in Levi jeans.  So I order a size-36 belt.  Perfect fit.  These "Hide & Drink" belts have 7 notch holes.  They are centered 1-inch apart.  If you order a size-36 belt for your 36"waist,  you will be using the center hole of the seven.  If you gain weight, you still have three more holes available.  If you lose weight, you'll have three holes in the opposite direction.  So there's plenty of latitude either way.   It's that simple.

Now, one little point to keep in mind.  Some people like more excess belt-strap beyond the buckle, so that their strap-end will reach out through the first belt-loop of their pant waist.  If you buy a size-36, and eventually eat your way up to to a 39" waistline, then your belt is only going to have enough excess strap to loop through the buckle itself.  It's obvious why this is so.   Each belt has 3 notches (3 inches) beyond the center-hole you use for the size you ordered.  Beyond the last hole of these 7 holes, there is still 4 more inches of belt leading to the tapered end of the strap.  So when you use the middle hole (36" waist position on the size-36 belt), you will have 7 inches of strap to loop through the metal buckle and reach out to the first pant-waist belt loop.  If you eventually gain weight and reach a 39" waist, then there is only 4 inches of extra strap, which is just enough to loop through the buckle.  Depending on which "look" you like, order accordingly.  Problem solved.

P.S.  Some buyers are complaining about ordering the right belt-size for their waist-size, and then receiving something totally off-sized.  I experienced this once.  It only means that the belt was improperly packed.  In other words, they sent you a mis-labeled size of belt.  This happens because there is no size imprint on the belt itself.  So if the tags get mixed up, when the packer is checking tagged belt-size against actual length, you'll receive the wrong item.  When the packer selects a size-36 belt, they will usually determine the actual size by knowing the full belt-strap length for that size.  In the case of a size-36 belt, the totally length of the belt will be 3 inches, plus the 4-inch strap end, beyond the size number.  Hence, a size-36 belt will measure 7 inches beyond 36 inches.  That's 43 inches from one end of the leather strap at the buckle, to the tapered leather tip.

Measure where you wear your belt not your hips. Then order 1 size up from that. If you are a man order 2 sizes from pants size is what they mean by 2 past your waist size. But it’s typically 2” bigger than where you wear the belt for women it’s a little higher than men. Since this is a men’s belt keep that in mind too when it comes to sizing.

Is the belt width 30mm? Would it be difficult to change the buckle to an old one off a 30mm coach leather belt?

This is a question you should take to a local leather worker. They are literally light years better at answering questions like this (buckle in hand, of course) and doing the work right. Never trust Amazon reviews (except for this one) when it comes to leatherwork!
