OXO Good Grips Silicone Basting & Pastry Brush - Small

This basting brush works quite well, much better than my paint brushes. Does fine in the dishwasher too.

Soft, lightweight but good quality bristles. Perfect size and easy to use. I hope it lasts long.

Review of OXO Good Grips Silicone Basting & Pastry Brush-Small We had a good quality / brand basting brush, but we found that the bristles were likely to come out pretty much every time that we used. My wife loves the dishwasher, but *I* am not a big fan and just wash things "old school" when I'm doing stuff. I put the brush into the hot sudsy water, got distracted and it was left to soak in there for almost an hour. When I returned to finish up, the whole bristle pack fell out of the handle and that was that. My wife definitely wanted another basting brush, but asked that I see what the options are, because picking bristles off our food was not something that she wanted to ever do again. We have some silicone spatulas, so I thought that this would be worth a shot. This OXO has turned out to be a VERY good choice. For us, the nicest thing is to not have to worry about the bristles, but also, it's easy to hold and use for my wife's small hand and mine and cleans up reasonably well. The cleaning of it is kind of hard to gauge. We don't use the dishwasher for this, I suspect that you shouldn't and it's not worth it to us to risk the brush by testing it. The silicone has a slightly "slick" feel so after washing you may wonder, is that just the nature of a silicone brush OR did we not get all the butter washed off? In the end, this is a super nice basting brush and we would buy it again. In fact, we'll probably order the larger brush. I would recommend it to friends.

After many years of use, my old-fashioned bristle pastry brush finally broke. I replaced it with the OXO Good Grips Silicone Pastry Brush. I like the way it performs. Here's why: * Handle feels comfortable in my hand * Handle is made of plastic (no wooden splinters) * Cleaning the brush is easier than with natural or plastic bristles * Evenly distributes the `wash' I use this brush to baste egg `washes' onto breads and pastries. Because it's made from silicone and is constructed differently from the more traditional nylon or natural bristle brushes, it can do what the others don't. It holds more of the `wash' in its brush. That's because it has silicone bristles on its exterior. But on the inside, it has these funny, larger width strips with small holes in them. They retain more of the `wash', making it unnecessary to dip the brush so frequently. As you `paint' your bread/pastry, the `wash' distributes itself evenly over the surface. Another plus: I think the brush is easier to clean because it isn't composed of tightly packed bristles. Since bacteria can quickly multiply in raw egg, I'm more confident that this design is more hygienic than the standard one. The product was delivered swiftly and arrived without damage. I would order from both the manufacturer and the supplier again.

Just love this brush. Practical, well made, works exactly as advertised. Highly recommend this basting and pastry brush.

Ich habe speziell einen Backpinsel gesucht, der nicht ständig beim Bestreichen von Lebensmittel oder der Pfanne, „Haare“ bzw. Borsten verliert, so wie das oft bei den einfachen Backpinsel mit Naturborsten ist. Dieser Pinsel ist hitzebeständig, man kann direkt damit Butter in einer heissen Pfanne verstreichen, ohne das er Borsten verliert. Er liegt gut in der Hand und kann super in der Spülmaschine gereinigt werden ohne das er seine Form verliert. Er wurde auch sehr schnell geliefert. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und würde ihn jeder Zeit wieder kaufen.

I already had the smaller size of this pastry brush, so I already knew I would like this one. It is nice to have the larger version for bigger jobs, like spreading melted butter on filo or basting bbq ribs. Holds a lot and cleans easily in the dishwasher.
