Great seal for my smoker and bbq grill!
The Lavalock seal was the exact solution to establishing a good seal for my vertical smoker, and bbq grill. The seal's fit for width and thickness did not hinder the doors/lid from properly closing shut. Installation was simple, I cleaned all the mounting surfaces the seal would adhere to with acetone solvent, applied the seal tape and shut the doors/lid firmly for several minutes to establish a solid bond. The lavalock adhesion is solid, as long as you keep your smoker or grill stored out of the elements. Durability for wear has proven well with the gasket being made of Nomex material. Installing the lavalock seal boosted the performance of my smoker and grill, by keeping the heat from escaping. Thus improving cooking times. for large cuts of meat. The package deal of 2 rolls was ideal, one roll was enough for my vertical smoker and other roll for my Weber grill, excellent performance!

I stopped smoking out the door
This gasket has worked out super well. After cleaning off the black gunk around the lid of my Silverback, it was super easy to press it on straight. My SS door was never a perfect match for the body, hence the need for the gasket, but after a thorough evaluation, I eased up the upper lit at the hinges, and the door fit in place quite snuggly. Fix steaks the next day, and all the smoke stayed inside the body, and didn't leak out the edges of the door. Temp stayed in too, a feature I had overlooked. So, two birds with one stone, as they say. Happy Pit boss now. Get yours if smoke is going out the door, not up the stack.

Simple and easy remedy for leaky weber grills.
The packaging and instructions were simple and straight forward. The material resembles a very dense wool-like material and works well for the most part. I must say, however, this did not completely seal my Weber from leaks. I noticed that after a serious deep cleaning of my lid, the initial performance of this gasket was laughable. I felt that the baked in grease and grime of my weber 22, performs better at keeping the bowl tightly sealed. My bowl and lid are in great condition and have no major warps or dents in them. I did however, only apply the seal to the bottom portion of the lid and not only the rim of the bowl, itself. I feel that applying the gasket to the bowl makes the gasket prone to damage from use. I have used the grill 5 times since applying the seal and I have noticed a much greater improvement of the performance. During my third cook, I smoked 3 racks of ribs and noticed only the faintest traces of smoke leaving a ~1.5-2 inch area around the lid. I feel, that with prolonged use, the added grease/grime of smoking and grilling will fill in the void and allow for a solid seal. Since adding the seal to my weber kettle 22.5, I noticed, much better temperature control. During my most recent smoke I was able to stay within 225-250 with little to no flare-ups or spikes in temperature. As it stands, I recommend this product. Be patient and allow for the seal to properly cure and allow time for the grill to break in, following installation.

LavaLock Gasket and 22.5" Weber Smokey Mountain
I used the LavaLock gasket to seal up a new Weber Smokey Mountain 22.5" smoker. The kit was used to do the joint between the Middle section and Lid and the Door. I also installed the Unknown BBQ Hinge and Southco Inc SC-62315 Handle at the same time. If you are going to install this gasket on a WSM I recommend getting the handle at the same time instead of messing with trying to make the original handle work. I left everything sit overnight and fired up the smoker with 16 pounds of charcoal at full open vents to season the smoker. With no water pan, no meat, and a warm day this is the hottest the smoker is going to ever get and the gasket showed no signs of abuse or failure at those temperatures. I had no leakage between the lid and the middle section and only a small amount from the door. This is due to the door, not the gasket and will look at replacing the door at some point as well. Prep - I used a little dish soap, some clean water and a couple paper towels to prep the paint. The grill was new, just checking for dirt or film that may have found its way onto the paint. There are probably better de-greasers but its what I had on hand. After rinsing the soap off, just make sure everything is completely dry and the soap is completely removed. I just used wet towels, never flowing water. Installation on the Middle Section - Straight forward, I used the lip that the lid sits on to apply the gasket and did not cut the excess off until I had finished adhering the gasket. One continuous strip all the way around working slowly to keep the application even. Installation on the Door - I had read that some people end up with the gasket showing when trying to trace the opening on the body so I instead applied the gasket to the door. I had to trim out a little clearance afterwards for the handle but when facing the smoker with the door shut, you cannot see any gasket sticking out. For this I used 3 pieces cut to length. I applied the top first and then butted the two sides into the top piece as tight as possible. I have no apparent leaks from using a joint like this and it was simpler than doing a curve in my minds eye. If you use pieces like this, do the top first followed by the sides. Doing the sides first would give you a better chance of a leak with a vertical break and heating rising. I have enough gasket left over that I should be able to do the Middle Section again if it ever becomes a problem or gets dirty enough that I just want to replace it. If I pick up a replacement stainless steel door, there is plenty left over for that as well. Because I did not want to go through the trouble of cleaning the smoker to install the kit, I never used the smoker without the gasket. That said, my impression is that the gasket is doing exactly what it is designed to do and doing it well. I have read a lot of complaints about the WSM being leaky, but between checking things for fit during assembly and adding this gasket I have no difficulty putting out coals on demand. We are thinking about getting the baby WSM and this modification would be at the top of my list.

Hasta hora muy bien. Sella perfecto. Esperemos aguante varios ciclos de calentamiento y no se despeguen

It’s a nice width, it’s a nice thickness for when the lid gaps are small and the self adhesive strip is strong and have not had any issues with it releasing.

Probably the best upgrade i have done to my Traeger Ironwood 885. Smoke was escaping out the door sides. No longer an issue and I can confidently say that this has helped with a more smoky flavour on the meats.

I purchased this to help with leaking on my smoker. I applied it (it is very sticky) and didn’t notice a big change. It rained after I used it and the next time I used it, there was absolutely no smoke leaking from around the lid. I also added it to my charcoal door and it works amazing.

El pegamento es de mala calidad, realmente no pegó y tuve que comprar otro aparte. El material sí es bueno para sellar y resiste el calor.
