They will fit 6 small round shaped ibuprofen or 3 or 4 capsule shaped tylenol or 5 ML of liquid benadryl but that is about it. **Q: Will these work for liquids?** A: Yes **Q: Are these hdpe?** A: I think they might be. **Q: I want to use these to test aquarium water. Can they be washed and reused?** A: I am not 100% sure as they are not glass. I assume that if you are using chlorine or other harsh chemicals, they may be absorbed into the material these are made from. I would suggest glass just to be on the safe side. I use these for fountain pen ink and some inks stain and even with household bleach and D**n soap any new ink I put into the washed vial has a smell of the chlorine bleach. I am not familiar with how the process for you works, but I would not myself reuse them only because of my experience. Full-size bottles of quality ink can be very expensive, and it's a terrible waste if a particular shade turns out to be disappointing when seen on paper. These vials allow me to trade small (3 to 4 ml) samples of ink with my circle of fellow fountain pen users so that each of us can easily and inexpensively share one bottle of ink rather than each of us buying our own. It's proven to be a huge money-saver for every one involved. My best friend gave me a sample of a light blue ink that I had planned to buy; when I used the sample, I realized the shade was too light ... much too light. Conversely, another friend gave me a sample of a turquoise blue that has turned out to be one of my "signature" inks. What I like about these vials is that they're graduated, meaning that they narrow at the bottom. This allows me to be able to get the last drops of ink at the bottom of the vial easily. I also appreciate the measuring guide on the side of each vial, as well as the quality of construction. Finally, the price is absolutely right. I paid less than $10.00 for 50 tubes, less than 20 cents each.
