The tub is white. :) The goo inside is pinkish-reddish, kinda like salmon...Darker in spots, lighter in others. It reminds me of 1988's 'The Blob'. However, put it on a dark brake pad slide area and it looks almost purple.

Can this be used as a dielectric grease substitute?

They are similar but not the same. This product will dry out whereas dielectric grease will not. I would get real dielectric given that it is very cheap and readily available most places.

What are people using to apply the lubricant as it doesn’t come with a brush?

I buy acid brushes in bulk. They work well for lots of things, including the application of brake parts lubricants. You can usually find them on Amazon.
