The follower is designed terribly. First off, it sits level with the top of the container when low. So, if you don't have a lot of cheese in there, it doesn't work because the weights will just sit on the sides of the container and not press anything. I don't know why it couldn't have stuck out more, as well as been larger and, preferably, flat. Why can't we have a flat surface to put weights on? This hollow ring design sucks. I work around it by using a can, but I shouldn't have to make a weird tower, I should have just been able to stack some nice flat, stable books on there. Other than that, it's a nice color and nice plastic that isn't too thin. This might be the best you can get, too, I didn't see a differently designed follower on any other brands when I looked.

I had never made cheese before and this mold was pretty good for a starter mold. It's not too expensive so that if you don't like to make cheese, you won't feel like you're wasting money on a hobby that you'll never do again. I made cheddar and swiss. It made cheese that was just the right size for a charcuterie board. If you want to make cheese without spending a lot of money on a mold, this is it.

These are great as spares. Nice to have extras. Works best with the press.
